I just don't know why people don't simply trust the program and follow it as it's outlined. Part of the reason I chose this program is because all the guess work was taken out of it for me!
Anyways, just my 2 cents for tonight, hope everyone is well!

I went to a Dr last spring to "interview" her for my daughter, at my daughters request. The Dr was someone I had seen years earlier and had really liked. She stopped her practice for awhile to raise her small children and just recently came back, hence the visit from me. While there she mentioned she had monthly meetings about IP and I should come if I wanted. Well, I went and because of my high regard for this physician was inspired to think about trying IP. We had a busy summer and a fall vacation preplanned and of course the big Thanksgiving family gathering. I spent the summer, and fall mentally preparing and physically preparing my kitchen. I "practiced" moderation more than I ever had at Thanksgiving and even on vacation. I researched everything I found, pro and con about IP and similiar diets. Finally I felt ready to make the commitment and did the 2nd wk of Dec 2010. Half the battle, for me, was the mental commitment. I find visualizing being successful plays a huge part.
It has been the easiest diet to follow and I did so w/ a little extra protein daily, approved by my Dr.
It has been a commitment to change my lifestyle and my husband has now joined in and has lost his 34 lbs and just started phase 4.
Lately I have had some challenges that have caused me to slip, it is usually an extra protein bar and rarely something off the list completly.
I agree with you about the guesswork being taken out of it makes it easier.
This phase 3 & 4 deal for my husband, with all the food coming back in for some reason is helping to contribute to a tougher time for me. I did not "visualize" the LIFE things that have happened, of course how could I?
Going back to work threw the eating time frame off, health issues with my husband, etc.
Soooooooooo my point is I do trust the program. Life has just thrown me some curves and after 5 months I am finding it a bit hard to be totally true to IP. But I am not going to beat myself up and other people have their own version of life interruptions that can put you off plan a little.
The great thing is to get back up, reinspired and supported by this site and fellow IPers and make the commitment all over again sooo that for me is why not following the outline can happen.
Welcome back, you have been missed! You offer such great insight.Originally Posted by ontariophotogal
