  • Can I squeeze in please? (Newbie)
    Hi all,

    Im Mimi

29 - turning 30 in August and I am desperate to look half decent on the holiday to celebrate

I am not new to weight loss effort, but its been a long time since I tried, I am on week 2 of P90X, and so far have lost 4.2 kg, sometimes I get so dejected, its really difficult for me to admit how much my weight affects me....ie not wanting to socialise, cause I look like a vienna sausage in everything, I happen to love fashion and clothes, and I am hoping that when I near/reach target, I can start to express myself with clothes, the way I would love to, never mind that I am an accountant

I live in London- the great city, and I have two beautiful children, who make me laugh every single day....

    Good luck to everyone....

    Mimi
    xx

I don't think I'll ever EVER know this feeling, I just can't even get my head around it! Congratulations on overcoming the plateau and reacing the half way point!! Well done xxxx

Congratulations Brid!! I am sure the people at the hospital can help advice about how to manage weight best when pregnant. Awwww, how wonderful xxxx

I got up early for a swim today, so I am really tired, having a little nap, hehe! OMG, I had an embarrassing moment happen; I had some trousers that I used to love, but since just a short time before starting my diet, I stopped fitting into them, which was a real shame. I figured that since it was only recently that I grew out of them, they might fit again now, 9lbs down... I put them on yesterday, and they felt OK at first and I was so happy. But then before i even got to the bus stop I realised I'd been a bit hasty in getting them back out, then were feeling REALLY uncomfortable round the waist and bum. But it was too late to go back and change, so I just knew I'd have to cope! Sitting down and work I was genuinely worried the button was going to pop off or the bum rip and show off my pants!!! So I said to my colleague that I was going to untuck my shirt and undo my button! I said I was sorry but it would have to be done! She laughed at me and asked did I put on weight! I said no actually I lost it but sadly not as much as I thought yet!! Oh well, maybe some day I soon I can wear them without peril!! hehehe xxxx
  • welcome Mimi

haha Jose poor you, well sometimes you just have to laugh and do what you gotta do!

off to work in a minute, not sure what it will be for supper there, there is usually salad and bolied eggs, cheese and meat in the fridge though so should be fine.
  • Congrats Brid! Do you have kids already or is it the fist?

Ahaha, I've had that problem, Jose! I have a T-shirt that I LOVE, but I knew it was too small when I bought it. I tried it on the other week, and though it's not as tight, it doesn't quite fit yet. Give it another month though, and those pants will be falling off you - like mine were this morning! Check this out!

These pant are a size 18 - this time last year, I was a very snug 18!!
  • Wooo!! Well, that is the thing, before weight loss I couldn't even close them, now I can (just happens to be very very uncomfortable!!). I wish I took a pic. I will take one now so I can compare it when they get back to fitting really well. I am so looking forward to the old clothes I hope to be able to get back into!
    xxxx
  • wow MM that pic is amazing!!
  • Thanks Miss SMCC ....
  • MM that pic really says it all!
    Well done!
Hi Mimi and welcome to the forum! As a resident of the principality I find London a bit scary! Bless! What is P90x?I am over 40 so anything that isn't Weight Watchers, Slimming World or Slimfast is pretty new to me!
Any other oldies ....remember Rosemary Conley?? And the Women's League of Health and Beauty??
Have just walked the dog through bogs and marshes that used to be the footpath through the woods at the local Country Park!! I have mud all the way up my legs( hate walkingin waterproof trousers!) and a face splattered in the stuff.
Note to any dog walkers......we all know the weather is pants and we should be going in shorts ( well not me!) and flip flops but you could still SMILE!! for heaven's sake!!
  • MM - this'll be the first. And you have an excellent tummy, by the way. Lovely shape to it.

    Welcome, Mimi!

Yesterday we ate out to celebrate the impending tiny person. Honey glazed gammon, om nom nom. Then my brother turned up later on and invited us out for a meal. When I declined, he called me lightweight again. Sigh... Why can't he understand that I'm trying to be a lightweight? That's the point!
  • Thanks Mountainwalker! London isnt that bad really, the Queen lives here, I think... lol

P90x is an extreme home fitness exercise programme - you do an hour a day, on a 90 day cycle and it includes cardio, yoga strength training, of course I enthusiastically rushed out bought the dvds, the weights and installed a pull-up bar, then... err I realised that it ain't no walk in the park! I've stopped and started for about 3 months , but now I am on 2nd consecutive week and very proud of myself, if I may say

some people have had amazing results with it, most inspiring is a 50 odd year old woman-in about a year, she went from looking 50 to looking 25, for me this is it!! I will do it!

I have also dabbled with Rosemary Conley, even Jane Fonda, who at 70 still looks amazing!

Thanks Brid, you guys and your weightloss are all so inspiring....
  • Brid.....a baby how lovely!! Kids are such a blessing but be prepared! Having had a pretty rubbish childhood, mine came along and I realised that I would actually lie down on railway tracks for them....that is the most incredible feeling. I know people go all mushy when they talk about unconditional love but it really is true!
Ahh Mimi now I understand wow, hubby kids and dogs would die laughing I only do zumba on the Wii when I am on my own in the house...I even lock the dogs in the kitchen!
  • Hi Mimi, welcome!!

*sigh* brothers. May I ask, is your brother overweight? Maybe he wishes he could do it, but is in denial so he is going to try to make fun of or ruin your efforts!! You ignore him xxx

May I go on the chart thing? I think I have lost enough weight to make me beleive that I will be able to keep going with it, and chronical it! I feel a bit poorly today, but on the plus side, means I eat less as I don't feel up to shopping and cooking much! Had to go home early from work. I wish mi mami was here to make me scrambled eggs and buy me my magazines hehehehe

Oh, btw is it just me or have we not seen so much of Lozz the last few days? I was wondering how her swimming went and if she managed to overcome the body confidence issue!
    xxxx
  • Thanks Jose

MW, I was like you, hiding from my family when excercising; I would literally freeze when my partner walked in, and wait for him to exit the room, but then I got over it! Locking the dog in the kitchen....thats hardcore

    Brid Congratulations!

Is it possible that your brother is just so used to playing the teaser, and could need time to adjust to the new you?

He's pretty thin, actually. Used to be fat in his early teens, but when he was about fourteen he started cycling to school - seven mile round trip five days a week. Mimi's probably closer to the mark, he's always been a bugger for teasing me. I'll let him off for this last incident anyway, as he had drunk seven pints that day and so probably didn't really remember that comments like that aren't helpful.

There's been no word from Lozz for a while now. I'm guessing the new job's eating all her time? She's been updating the chart, at least. I'm enjoying seeing her progress even though she's not around. Unfortunately it seems no one who knows how to make a new chart is around at the moment. So feel free to add yourself, Jose, but perhaps just ignore the dates at the top of the columns?

MW - I'm fully prepared to go all mushy, don't worry. Already did when meeting both my nieces for the first time. (They're quite excited about getting a proper cousin at last, all they have so far is second cousins.)

Had a phonecall from a midwife this morning about healthy eating. Had to ask her to call back later, it was about nine o'clock in the morning and my brain just wasn't working yet. I've no idea how all this is going to affect my diet, I just know before finding out I was eating fairly low calorie (probably about 900 on my lowest days, maybe 1400 on my highest, very rough estimates though). No idea if that's enough when pregnant. They say "300 extra a day in the last trimester only" but surely that's for people who are already eating at maintenance level calories? All I really know right now is a) I'm hungrier than I used to be and b) I seem to be maintaining pretty nicely between 14st 1 and 14st 3.
