Hello goldies

I did it! Saturday my dh and I went shopping and I told him I'm going to try on size 18 jeans because my 20's were getting baggy. I slipped them on and they fit so good. Not tight at all! Y'all should have seen the smile on my face as I looked in the mirror. Nothing could have wiped that grin off my face. I'm not losing the lbs lately but I guess I'm losing inches. I jog 30 minutes a day for 5 days and I also do floor exercise. So it's paying off. Guess y'all can tell I'm excited! Yesterday we barbecued with our sons. It was a bittersweet day. As it's been only 4 months since I lost my dad.

Amarantha what a horrible thing to happen. Did you have a cell phone to call for help? I can imaging how hot it was. Hope your car gets fixed soon.

Freda it's a good feeling when we can have family things and stay on plan. Laughing about the rope jumping. Feels good when we can do something that we did when we were kids.

Carol sue thanks for the tip about how to do personals. When I went back to previous page I would lose what I typed already. I think it's never too late to start exercising.

Rie congrats on your blood work. That's always a plus about dieting. Makes them drs happy.

Rosey I'm glad you are feeling better. Last Saturday I left and went shopping all by myself. It's good to be by your self sometimes. I'm a child care provider and I have kids with me 12 hours a day. Then dh comes home and both ds. That leaves me with no me time.

Marie. A womans house work is never done. Glad your dd eye surgery went ok.

Karen fl. We live in the country and the neighbor down the road can let their dogs roam but we can't because they would shoot ours or call and complain. We are also the target for people to drop off their dogs they don't want.

Isabella. Hi how is your day going?

Bobbi I can only imagine how hard it is for you to leave your place and venture into the unknown. We live in the country with 22 acres and it's a lot of upkeep but it's also so nice to have our privacy to go outside and roam around. I will pray that you get peace with your move.

Hi Golden Chicks - I was very busy. I shopped and wrapped the gifts. And I cooked for Fathers Day. I made lemon chicken, 5 lbs of potato salad, Caesar salad and DS made corn on the grill. My DB brought my dear parents. My mom was in rare form., sounding crazier than usual. She mixes up the past with the present and conversations she’s had with other people. We just had fun with it. I had to grab a glass of wine though. It sounds like I’m turning to alcohol a lot lately…I never used to. DS wasn’t particularly charming. He wasn’t rude, just not his usual happy self. He gets crabby when he hasn’t had enough sleep. Always been like that. So I grabbed a second glass of wine and I had a ton of fun with my niece, my brother and my mom. The four of us were laughing so hard. We all had a good time. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. My younger DS was not able to come home. I miss him even more on family occasions.

Donna - lol about the martini and the finger at the same time - like the pinky with tea. I will have to remember that.

Rie - so nice of you to be there for the mother and girl with a seizure. Very demanding, draining work you do. You are a very special lady. And yes, you absolutely can give the finger AND have the martini. (See above.) Actually, I think that by the time most of us are driven to the point where we give someone the finger, a martini (or wine) is essential. And hugs from us golden chicks. 00000!

Karen fl - I’m glad you had such great witnesses to the horrible attack on Dash. Those people are scary.
I bet the police are keeping an eye on them. At least I hope so.

Marie - I agree about the efficiency of exercising at home. I used to do it. Now, I need the gym. I think the main reason is that DH and I go together. Whoever is more interested talks the other one into going. I was the one that wanted to go today, which surprised me. I have to work off that potato salad I ate. I only make it about once a year now - for Fathers Day - because that is another thing I love - home made potato salad. Like chocolate chip cookies and brownies - so much better than store bought.

Good some really bad new today. My husbands niece (married to my cousin) died this morning. they say it was an asthma attack. He's had asthma since he was a child. He was 32. they had a DD 10 and an 18 month old. His mother passed away 2 years ago from cirosis of the liver. Never drank. She was on the list for a transplant but didn't make it. the family has had so much bad luck, and were such wonderful people. I told my DGD about it but haven't told her why he died yet. She also has asthma and i'm afraid it will really scare her. What would you do? So much wisdom here.

Freda--- so sad to hear that about your nieces husband. Will send prayers for them and for you. That would be tough but think about it and pray about it and I'm sure you will make the right decision for you. Sending prayers for you to help you make the decision in a tough matter. ((( HUGS)))

Freda ~ so sorry for the loss of your neice's husband. So sad, so young. Thoughts and prayers for all of your family, and for you for knowing what to say to your DGD.

Freda, so sorry for the loss in your family. It's tough to tell children the whys and wherefores of death and it's causes but I think they are more resilient than we think. Your DGD may not ask what happened but if she does, I believe a truthful answer, very gently stated, would be best. Let her lead the discussion. Some children die from sports injuries but most kids don't stop playing that particular sport because they become so afraid of dying. So, in the same vein, some people die from asthma but most don't. You know your DGD and as her grandmother you will do the very best job of answering her questions. At best she may become more aware of how best to manage her own asthma. Will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this very trying and sad time.

I am so sorry for your loss. My best wishes are with you and your family.

I would DEFINITELY NOT tell your granddaughter that it was asthma. Is there any chance that she will hear this from someone else? You wrote, "they say..." Does this mean that you are not sure? Maybe you could just say that it is not clear what he died from.

Good morning GG, today was weigh in day and after 18 weeks I had my first gain this week. 1/2 lb. Trying not to get upset. After all I'm still losing inches. I'm having some monthly bloating. I'm also having some irregularity issues due to dieting I guess. I'm drinking lots of water and eating fiber and vegs but still not good enough. Anybody have any suggestions of something I can take on a regular basis.

Deelee10 sometimes laughing is what gets us through things. I know the feeling of missing your children on holidays. Sometimes my boys have to work.

Freda So so sorry to hear about y'all niece. My condolences to yall. It's never easy to lose a loved one more so when they are so young. I will pray that God gives you the right words to tell your dgd the reason for her passing. God bless y'all.

Freda - so sorry about your niece's husband. I think what you say to dgd does depend on her age. I think you and her parents can discuss how much she needs to know and what all of you will say. Perhaps reassuring her that you, her parents and her doctor are keeping a close eye on everything so that won't happen to her. I have very well controlled asthma. I get allergy shots. Some people have rescue inhalers, epi pens - all sorts of stuff. My allergists' office is filled with kids. It seems like allergies are very common these days. It is so sad that the family has had so much loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you.
Cajun - female bloating and irregularity can add a few pounds for sure. I take psyllium husk capsules - a lot of them. You can get them at health food stores, Whole Foods and on line. Got that from my Atkins days. My bottle says take 4 capsules 1 -3 times a day. I'm not that organized. I usually take it all at once, whenever I think of it - usually in evening. You may not need that much especially if you are eating fiber. I think I started out taking 2 - 4. Keep drinking the water. I try to drink 60 - 80 oz a day. I bet you actually lost fat, especially since you went down a pant size. I take HRT so I get a little female water weight sometimes and the irregularity is usually a little worse then. Don't get discouraged. You are doing great!
Rie - I prefer frozen Margarita's but I can't make good ones at home. I was also trying to keep the calories and carbs down. But I had chocolate
any way. hmm. Lost part of my post. I said that I really need to be hypnotized or put into a coma. DH is playing golf. Could someone please tell me to go to the gym?

ps - Donna Ten - I just saw your post. I'm glad that things are improving and that you feel up to joining us again. Continued thoughts and prayers for your son and family. Good job in not gaining back any weight - not easily done when under so much stress.

Donna (change4life) So good to hear from you again! I have wondered about you and your son and how things were. I'm glad that charges were brought against the boy who did this. Will continue to keep you, your son and family in my thoughts and prayers.

Deelee go to the gym! Now! Lol. Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure I could take something on a regular basis. It's really slowing up my progress. But I will stay on track and hopefully I can get this resolved. I'm doing the dukan diet so it's very similar.
