  • Thank you so much! They are kind of traveling on "a wing and a prayer"
  • Boy, do I know that feeling. Though in my case it's more like I think invisible duct tape is the only thing holding my vehicle together, .

They'll be back before you can spit. Not that you, spit.
    (movie quote),
  • It is so scary-- but they don't seem to worry about it! I would!! They are traveling in an old Saturn that has over 200,000 miles on it!! But it got them there so I'm hoping that it gets them back here too! Then maybe he will let it retire!!
  • Yeah, I drove my first car until it broke, so I get that. I think the whole "it's paid for" is rather nice.
  • Saw the Doobie Brothers and Chicago in concert last night. It was awesome!
  • Had a ladies night out, Cathy?
  • Crashed my moms new '71 Mercury Cougar on the way to see Chicago in San Diego....ran into a family in a Toyota...nobody hurt...

only my pride...wasn't sure about driving the car...crashed in front of the Dennys...1/2 mile from the concert...

called dad...he says...park car at the Dennys....go to concert with GF...see you at the car when the concert is over....

and THAT was not even my most exciting concert fiasco!
  • Oh wow.
Glad no one was hurt, Gary.
  • Yep ZAN We were all pretty lucky....

    not my first crash...

but I was still 18 and "smarter" than anyone else!

Another time, going to see Neil Diamond....19 then I think, I was escorted by the California Highway Patrol.
  • And to think I freaked out when I scratched my Dad's truck in a grocery store parking lot. I only did about $800 dollars worth of damage to the guy who conned me into thinking it was my fault, but I paid my dad back and his only remark about it was something along the lines of "Next time do more damage".

    Oh, by the way:

  • No girl's night out...Heidi had to go home! So it was me and dh (John) Had a great time. We just returned home from St. Louis...came home early cuz it was too dang hot to do anything...115 degrees heat index WITH HUMIDITY does not make for a fun tourist!

That's a really good Dad, Gary.

Wish I could have stayed longer - but I sure had a GREAT TIME while I was there!

We're home safe and sound now too, and boy did our garden grow while we were gone! I'll have to spend some serious time out there weeding tomorrow but we'll feast on fresh swiss chard and zucchini.

Yes he was..and a good husband...well...when he didn't have a girlfriend on the side... not that it was a habit but twice is 2 times too many in my book!

However the first time I crashed a car I was not quite 16...on a permit...rolled my Mustang with 2 adult men and my younger brother in it....about 1 mile from our house...(no one hurt) the first responding police officer was a California Highway patrolman that worked for my dad on the side...no ticket ...when my dad showed up I was sitting on the bank with my head in my hands...he comes up from behind me and says...

"so, son....looks like you f'd up"....(he did use all the letters!)...

    never raised his voice...
  • What? A whole day without a post? I may as well close this now.
