Welcome sfchubbychick! Glad to have you join the thread. Sounds like you have a great exercise routine. You must be very tired after only 4 hours of sleep. How do you manage it?

Renee, glad your test went fine. That's great! Have you watched any TV shows on your new computer yet? Yes, I think we are in for some very cold weather too coming up for the next week. I need to make sure I enjoy the last of the warm weather today.

    Have a fabulous Friday!

    Enlist others.

If no one but you knows about the repercussions, it's easy not to enforce them.
Ask those close to you to hold you accountable.......or make them part of your comeuppance.
For example, if you're late to a dinner date, you have to pick up the tab for the meal.
Most people will have no problem calling you out on a slip up (especially if there 's something in it for them!).

  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. walk
    1/2 hr. morning barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    beef barley soup
roast chicken, sweet potato, lima beans

Snowing here. Supposed to get 3-5 inches, then very cold. I'm more worried about the storm they're watching for next week.......

Sometimes I watch shows on Hulu or youtube. We also get Amazon Prime and Netflix and can stream them to our TV.

Does Jack like to go for walks in the snow?

    Have an awesome Friday!
  • Exercise
    1 hour walk

    Meals
    Tofu scramble
    Banana
    Bean Burrito
    Taco salad

Very cold and windy here today. Some snow flurries, but no accumulation. Not suppose to get any here though. Jack loves the snow. He runs around and rolls in it. He is funny to watch as he plays in it.

Tomorrow is weigh-in. Wishing you a successful weigh-in. Have a great Saturday!

Tip of the Day from Women's Health magazine, Jan/Feb 2014
    Pay up immediately

When you falter, address it ASAP, it's natural to want to drag your feet before, say, doing your roommate's chores or laying off social networking for an entire day. But spending a lot of time dreading whatever you're about to do to make amends takes you away from working toward your goal. If you'd just gotten it over with, you could already be back on your way to chiseling better abs (or working towards that thinner healthier you) .
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    slice of pizza
    vegetable chili, pears

    Down 1.2 lbs.

The horses love the snow too. They love to roll and make horse angels. Right now they're saying we're going to get a monster snow storm Monday into Tuesday. I hope not.

    Have a good weekend!
  • Exercise
    1 hour walk

    Meals
    Tofu Scramble
    Bean Burrito
    Hummus and tortilla chips
    Fruit Squares
    Strawberries

Yippee Renee!! You did terrific this week.
That is wonderful! I am happy for you.

Well my weigh-in was not as good as yours. I stayed the same. Guess I will need to make some major modifications to my program this week to get things moving along once again.

I am really glad that you are still on track.

Time to Spring Forward on Sunday morning. Hope you have a great sunny Sunday!

    Focus on the Positive

There's an important distinction between giving yourself consequences and beating yourself up.
The latter can mess with your self-esteem and make you feel as if you might as well ditch the whole self-betterment quest.
If you do revert to your old ways, look at your lumps as a learning experience and quickly began looking forward again.
Eventually you will be able to adhere to your new habit simply because it makes you feel good.

  • Exercise:
1.5 hours of intense hiking up and down steep hills (brutal).

    Meals:
    Kashi bar
    Banana
footlong subway sandwich (turkey on wheat )
    Coffee (no cream)
    and for dinner, green smoothie!!!

    Corinna:
Not sure how I managed 4 hours of sleep and exercising! LOL ...ton of coffee and knowing that the only way to lose weight is to be persistent and to exercise

My weight is still the same from last week 164. I shall try low carb tomorrow! Hoping it will work!

Woohoo! Let's keep this up, girls!
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    beef barley soup
    graham crackers
roast chicken, lima beans, sweet potato

Looks like we're in for a big snowstorm starting tomorrow night. Went and got diesel fuel for the tractors in case we need to run the farm with the generator.

I'm sure the stores will be busy today with everyone getting bread and milk

    Have a blessed day everyone!
  • Exercise
    90 minute walk

    Meals
    Tofu scramble
    Pea soup with mock sausage
    Strawberries, celery, and hummus
    mock chicken patties, zucchini relish
    Mini carrot muffin

Wow, just saw the news, Renee, and you are going to get a bunch of snow. I think we will only get rain where we live. May be a bit of snow on the way to work though.. Hope it doesn't get too bad for you. Stay safe and warm.

sfchubbychick-Smart move with trying low carbs for losing weight. However, you may feel less energized when doing a hard workout. Perhaps you can find a happy median with both to make it work for you.

Well ladies, this is a new week with a fresh new goal. Yes, we can do this. Just keep the scale moving downward.....let's do this!

Tip of the Day from Oxygen magazine, Dec 2010
45....Percentage less likelihood of developing Alzheimer's disease in people who do regular moderate -to-intense activity. Tip: Protect your brain by taking up exercise-consistently.

  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    hamburger, sweet potato fries
    meatloaf, carrots, potato

Well, we're all set for the storm. Supposed to get 16+ inches plus 40 mph winds. Should make for an interesting day tomorrow!

I need to start doing my indoor exercises again. My back is all healed and I'm ready to step it up.

    Have a great Monday!
  • Exercise
    1 hour walk

    Meals
    2 eggs and hash brown
    Veggie patty sub
    Bean burrito
    Raspberry Fig Bars

Wow, I hope you don't get that much snow. Be careful outside.

Start slowly and take it easy with your inside exercises.
It is easier to injure your back now, since you have previously hurt it.
Steady and slow is the best way to go.

Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013
    The Beet Goes On

Juicing red roots could help your heart, reports the journal Hypertension.
Downing about eight ounces of beetroot juice led to a drop in systolic blood pressure (the top number),
which has been associated with a lowered risk of death due to cardiovascular issues.
Beets are a rich source of nitrate, which your body converts to compounds
that help vessels dilate to reduce blood pressure.
Drink the juice straight or mix it with apple juice to add sweetness.

Put the squeeze on heart disease.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
1/2 roast beef sandwich, cup of chicken noodle soup
    shrimp cocktail, steak, gnocchi, carrots

Well, we're getting slammed. Might get 24-30 inches of snow. It sure is pretty. I filled some jugs with water in case we lose power, but we'll be fine.

    Have an awesome Tuesday!
  • Exercise
    None today.

    Meals
    2 eggs and veggie strips
    Bean burrito
    Veggie Pizza
    Mini carrot muffin

We had some rain here today, but nothing major. Just cold. Sounds like you got the brunt of the storm. Hope it clears up soon for you.

Started my taxes today, but still have a lot more to research. I will get them done eventually.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013
Control Gap-The margin between how much control people think they have over their weight and how much they actually do to change it. In a survey, 80 percent of people said they could have "a great deal of" or "complete" control over the scale, but only 65% said they take that level of initiative-a 15 point gap.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. shoveling snow
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    chicken noodle soup, saltines
    peaches, leftover steak, carrots

We got 20-24 inches with blizzard conditions. Still windy today with blowing snow. We're pretty much cleaned-up. The main roads are ok, the back roads are still messy.

Chris made a couple of passes in the paddock with the 6 ft. snowblower so I can get the horses out today. Some of the drifts are taller than they are

We used to do our own taxes, but it's so much easier to take them to a CPA.

    Have a great day!
  • Exercise
    30 minute walk

    Breakfast
    Berry muffin
    Tofu and vegetables
Mock Chicken patty, Broccoli and pasta

You sure did get some snow. Those winds just keep everything sooo cooolllllddd. I hope you don't get any more snow. Good thing you have a snow blower. Guess it is kind of mandatory for where you live.

I was going to get an accountant or hire a tax service. I got quotes for $330 to $480 to start with. So I figured I would just give it a try myself first and see how things go.

I've been eating a bit more just to keep warm. I have been wearing double layers of clothes too. I ate some pasta today, and I can feel my stomach growing out. I will definitely have to stay away from that in the future. I feel like my waist just grew 2 inches. Yikes.

Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013
    Double Down

Tackle exercise and diet together for best results.
In a study, participants who began fitness and food plans at the same time
met national guidelines for exercise (150 minutes weekly) and
nutrition (five to nine daily servings of fruit and veggies, and
less than 11 percent total daily intake from saturated fat) one year out.
Those who exercised first, then started a diet a few months later, or vice versa, didn't measure up.
"Doing both from the start keeps one from becoming a priority," says study author Abby King, Ph.D.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. shoveling snow
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    chicken noodle soup, saltines
    graham crackers
    shepards pie, broccoli

Roads are still messy. School has been cancelled. When I went to school, we never had a snow day off. The busses had tire chains. Guess everyone is sue happy and the school districts don't want the liability.

Wow, those were high quotes. Our CPA charges $150. Must be the area you live in......

I need to go to the grocery store today...cats are almost out of food, and the men want corned beef and cabbage tomorrow
