Question What's the verdict on Miracle Whip?

I don't like mayonnaise -- full fat or low fat. What I do like, however, is Light Miracle Whip. It doesn't seem to have excessive amounts of sugar, with 2 grams sugar, 3 carbs and 1.5 grams of fat. It has less oil and egg, but is still made with soybean oil and eggs.

So, can I eat it on Phase 1? I'm having trouble figuring out what the cut-off point for sugar and carbs are for some items, i.e., how much is too much. Thanks.

Miracle Whip is not allowed on South Beach. Here are the ingredients: Ingredients: WATER, SOYBEAN OIL, VINEGAR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, SUGAR, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, EGG YOLKS, SALT, MUSTARD FLOUR, ARTIFICIAL COLOR, POTASSIUM SORBATE AS A PRESERVATIVE, SPICE, PAPRIKA, NATURAL FLAVOR, DRIED GARLIC.

I can't find the ingredient listing for the Light Miracle whip but it is by Kraft and by looking at Kraft's website, it is not listed as a South Beach approved product.

Miracle Whip is a salad dressing, isn't it? I don't use it - I won't buy anything but Best Foods (aka Hellmann's).

Here are the guidelines for mayos and dressings:

Mayonnaise - Regular - 1 TBS
Mayonnaise - Low Fat - 2 TBS (avoid varieties made with high fructose corn syrup)
Salad Dressing - 2 TBS. Use those that contain 3 grams of sugar or less per 2 TBS. Best choices contain canola or olive oil. Low carb salad dressings may also be used if they meet these guidelines.

Default Interesting...

...I don't think I noticed high fructose corn syrup in Light Miracle Whip. I also don't think I looked too closely, because I've eaten it maybe once (with tuna) in the past month.

It's a shame, I do like it. But thanks to Barb and Heather for the info.
