Cottonseed Oil?

It's in this product called Wok Oil that I love in asian foods. Any thoughts on whether or not this is an approved fat?

Hi Pearsy: I googled it and looked in the Good Fats/Good Carbs book.

Here is the info extracted from Wikpedia:

Along with soybean oil, cottonseed oil is very often partially or fully hydrogenated. The growing consensus is that in hydrogenated (trans fat) form these oils are very unhealthy. Cottonseed oil was the first oil to be hydrogenated, originally intended for candle production, not food.

The guide indicates that 1 tbsp has 14 grams of fat .. and is "limited" When I looked it up in Fitday it notes that 3.5 is Sat Fat.

How about using peanut oil in Asian cooking?:)

Thanks for the info. I'll have to only use it occasionally just to be safe. This stuff is liquid so I wonder if it has any of the trans fats in it since hydrogenating is done to solidify a fat. Hmm! It's a good thing that now manufacturers have to label the amount of trans fat in a product so there's no guessing.
