Cool cook books

Hello!
I am new to trying the South Beach Diet but am not sure if I can do it full fledged. I am used to eating rice with most meals and to cut that out seems pretty hard, even if for two weeks. My doctor asked me to start eating on lower GI foods though.
Besides South beach, does anyone know of any cook books that have lower glycemic recipes in them? I do love that many put recipies out here too! Love to cook and just need to lose some pounds and get healthy!

Pretty much any low-carb cookbook would probably provide you with low-glycemic recipes. Other than that, I would suggest you print out a copy of the GI list, and search out recipes to modify for your favorite foods.

After the first few days, it becomes truly easy to give up the starches (rice, bread, pasta, etc). Give it a try for a few days at least before you decide you can't do it. You can always jump to Phase 2 and enjoy brown/whole grain rices instead of white rice.

Here are a couple of books that I really like:

The Good Carb Cookbook: Secrets of Eating Low on the Glycemic Index
by Sandra Woodruff

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...=UTF8&v=glance

The Essential Eating Well Cookbook (excellent! it's very close to SBD)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books

A New Way to Cook by Sally Schneider - she uses sugar so I usually just substitute with sweetner as appropriate:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846

I've found these three, in addition to the SBD books incredibly useful -

Hope this helps!
