Mayonnaise??
I should probably already know this, but is limited amounts of mayo "allowed" in Phase 2? I have completely avoided it as I have no idea. I am thinking that egg salad sandwiches sound awfully tasty.
Thanks! |
It is allowed but becareful as it is all fat and the reduced fat/no fat ones are all sugar. A good substitute (i know it sounds crazy) for chicken salad/tuna salad/egg salad is nonfat yogurt.
That sounds like a good substitute. I will try it tomorrow. I also thought that Dijon mustard might taste good. Thanks Nelie!
I make tuna/chicken salad quite a bit and what I put in it is either mayo (or nonfat yogurt), spicy mustard and dill relish.
Nelie, watch out for relish...it usually has crazy amounts of sugar. You can just chop up dill pickles to avoid the sugar.
Kiko, Dr. A says in the book that because Mayo is made of soybean oil (the kind in the jar, not the homemade kind), it is a good, healthy fat. We can use judicious amounts of it, even daily. I usually mix part low fat mayo and regular mayo, and I've found that I can get away with much less than I used to use. It does pack on the calories, though, so I try not to eat it more than twice a week. |
something I do is Salsa with mashed up eggs It works hot it you want hb eggs and its great cold. . you just need a little salt
Laurie, there are 2 types of relish: 1) sweet relish (which I could never stand and has tons of sugar) and 2) dill relish (which has no sugar in it and is just basically chopped up pickles, i'm pretty lazy)
Nelie when you use NF yogurt, do you use it as is or do you make yogurt cheese?
KO, Nelie hasn't been posting here for a while but she means just the yoghurt. It works fine for me that way too.
