Question about alcohol for phase 2

I normally enjoy drinking a few beers every so often, but I know that South Beach doesn't allow that... would rum and Diet Coke be ok? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? I have seen the commercials that say there are 0 sugar and 0 carbs with 66 cals per drink for the rum and Diet Coke. What do you guys think? Thanks!!!

I think this will answer your question:

This is from the Daily Dish:
Enjoy, in moderation (limit 2 servings daily):
* Red and white wine (one serving = 3-4 ounces)
* Champagne (one serving = 3-4 ounces)
* Vodka (one serving = 1 1/2 ounces)
* Gin (one serving = 1 1/2 ounces)
* Rum (one serving = 1 1/2 ounces)
* Bourbon (one serving = 1 1/2 ounces)

Avoid:
* Beer
* Brandy
* Port wine
* Liqueurs (including Kahlua, Bailey's, Amaretto, schnapps, etc.)
* Sherry
* Wine coolers (often contain a lot of added sugar)

Thanks, Barb. I had missed that.

Alternative to wine coolers:

Don't know if this has hit in your areas yet, but there is a new juice drink made by a company called "Vintage". They normally make those "flavored carbonated waters", but this is juice. It's sugar free, sweetened with Splenda, and comes in 4 different flavors here. I pick up one liter bottles at Wegman's for 50 cents a piece!

Mixing vodka, a bit of Diet Sprite, and this juice is a great alternative to a wine cooler or mixed drink!

But since we aren't allowed fruit juices, wouldn't this also not be allowed? It seems like the fructose would be enough to raise our blood sugar.

hi all - i havent been posting for a while...but i thought Id share that there is this great soda...artificially sweetened with (nutrasweet? i dont think its splenda. this is like the one time I dont have any at home so i cant check the label!). anyhow its called Clear Choice. It is sold at Food Emporium (i live in NYC) and has nothing in it...no sugar, no calories....just amazingly flavored carbonatedwater. check it out if you can find it. Its also pretty cheap...under 70 cents for a liter. I cant think of anything in it that would go against south beach.

Sorry, it's artificially flavored. No fructose. Crystal Light works the same. :)
