I've never been a mayo person.....Miracle Whip for me. Well those days are over and the thought of tuna without it was arrrrrg! I tried real mayo and found it lacked the tang I got with Miracle Whip. I think I've found my solution....its new and called French's GourMayo. There are 3 flavors...I bought sun dried tomatoe. As far as I can see its legal. Sound good?

Real mayo is the best choice according to the SBD Gidebook.

Found some really good mayo at the local health food store the other day. Made with canola oil, whole eggs, a bit of dry mustard. Big jar for $5.59. Pricey, yes... but the flavor!

I've always wanted to try to make my own mayo. So many people go on and on about the flavor.

Danzgal, you mentioned your lunches are getting boring. It's time to mix it up then, because getting bored with your meals is a kiss of death. I like taking last night's leftovers for dinner. Read the boards for wonderful lunch suggestions.

By the way, I have found that adding sweetener to mayo makes it taste more like Miracle Whip. I also sometimes add mustard and worschestire sauce to it, so it taste a bit like my deviled egg mayo mix.

Big Wheelz, what was the brand of that mayo? It sounds interesting.

Go4it - Does your Gourmayo have corn syrup in it? I had a sundried tomato mayo this summer (I'm not sure if your brand or not), and corn syrup was one of the first ingredients on it, so I tossed it out when we started SBD.

Here's a mayo-les tuna salad that sounds good. I'd sub Splenda for the sugar though -

Lemon ZingerŪ Vinaigrette Tuna Salad

After trying this dressing over tuna, you'll never use mayonnaise again.

1/2 cup cider vinegar
2 Lemon Zinger tea bags
1 cup light oil (such as vegetable or canola)
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 large can (12-1/2 ounce) water-packed white tuna

Place the vinegar and tea bags in a jar, and steep for 20 minutes. Remove the tea bags, and squeeze the excess liquid into the jar before discarding the bag. Add the oil, basil, and sugar, and shake well. Combine the remaining ingredients in a large salad bowl; toss with the dressing. Chill 15 minutes, and serve.

Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Chill Time: 15 minutes

yep...just checked the Gourmayo and it does have corn syrup....oops!

Well maybe it is still ok. I just read the ingredients on the FF half and half and it has corn syrup as its second ingredient also, and that is acceptable to Dr A.... I'm confused!

Meanwhile, the main SBD book has a recipe for Cilantro Mayonaise; it's in the Phase I recipe section, grouped with the "Snacks" I believe. Anyways, made a double batch of this stuff last night, with the intent of having Turkey Rollups for lunch today. It was only after I made the mayo that I discovered I was out of turkey. So... I grabbed a big foil packet of tuna, mixed it with a HUGE dollop of Cilantro Mayo, and let it sit overnight.

YUM!

It is so amazing to me how different peoples taste is. I am so happy I can have mayo and y'all are tryin to disguise it's flavor. I hate miracle whip and would rather go without than to eat it. Mayo on the other hand roll up turkey or ham and dip it in mayo. I love it and could almost eat it plain but that would just be gross! You might want to try paprika as well as that is an ingredient in mw but not mayo. Just an idea!
