Low Carb Bars

    I'm new to the board and so pleased to find a SBD place to be.

    I'd really like opinions and thoughts about eating low carb bars and drinks during the phases.

    I'm a reformed Atkins WOE, but decided the SBD is healthier for me.

    In a nutshell, if you are eating for health, avoid frankenfoods like the low carb bars and shakes. Sorry but they sometimes stall weightloss and they are expensive.
  • What is it about the bars and drinks that stall weight loss?

    I have read many opinions about the sugar alcohols.
  • Artificial sweeteners can stall some people. Sugar alcohols do the same for some people. Stick to water for the first two weeks at least if you want to maximize your weightloss.
  • And caffeine stalls some people, but it's not written in stone. Most seem to ba able to drink sugar-free soft drinks. Coffee is said to increase insulin secretion for some, but decaf should be ok.
  • Jocaro, I don't know if you're still reading this, but I've done fine with the Atkins Advantage low-carb bars, which I've eaten for some breakfasts during Phase I. I've lost 6 pounds in about 10 days, so I don't think they're slowing my weight loss much at this point. Ditto for the protein drinks; I tried a couple (don't recall the brand) without problem.

    The thing I like about the Atkins bars is that they keep me full for a long time. The combination of fiber, protein, and fat is powerful.
