Thai food
Okay, I know I'm probably just asking a question that I already know the answer to...but does anybody know what would be a good choice when eating out Thai food??? I love Thai food w/ my favorite foods being pad thai chicken (I know, I know, everybody's fave, LOL) and lumpia. I'm assuming if I could find lumpia wrappers made out of wheat I would be okay...but how do you duplicate pad thai chicken w/o the rice noodles???
I've never done any shopping in the Asian markets...is it even feasible that they would have these things in SB friendly versions??? |
You could use soy noodles, or try out some whole wheat thin-spaghetti noodles in place. I have done this with Thai recipes before, like my beloved chicken & broccoli satay, and it turns out delicious.

Oooh...soy noodles is a good idea!!! THANKS!!!

Does anyone know what cornstarch is made of? I know it's a thickener but does it have sugars? Allot of Thai and Chiense dishes use cornstarch I was told. Can't seem to find anything on it.??????????

CyndiM,
Thanks for putting it that way! I normally order my meals with the sauce on the side but I'm trying to figure out what to eat when I do this. I thought maybe the garlic sauce might be a good choice, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |
the only thing I ever seem to be able to order when I am eating thai and not making it on my own is Pad Prik Khing - chicken, string beans and red curry paste. It sets off no cravings for me. It *is* salty though so I down 2 waters before and 2 after (at least). If brown rice isn't available, I eat it on it's own.
