OK. I've never had a cat pee on me. They are smart and I'm sure they know that it would probably lead to "flying lessons" for the sweet little kitty doing the wizzing. But, I had a silver persian back in college and if I forgot to clean his box for very long he would be courteous enough to do it for me, by pitching turds all over the kitchen and livingroom. I also learned to pick up the speed with which the box got cleaned.

Haha ok my first cat Tiger learnt to use the toilet on his own and flush. He was awesome. His daughter, Patchwork, wants to do it in the yard. However we had a funny incident with her.

Patchwork used to wake me in the morning to feed her, and you know cats. When they want food, they want food NOW! Anyways, with time passing by, I learnt to block her out and stay asleep, much to her annoyance. Until one morning, she climbed the bed and sat on my face. And stayed there until I would notice I lacked breadth.

It never even occured to me that a cat would really use the toilet. The only time I ever heard of it was with the Ben Stiller movie "the fockers".

But when I think of it... A number of years ago we were away for the day and came home to a kitchen stinking of cat urine. I spent the evening bleaching down the kitchen- counters, shelves, floor you name it. The next morning I started making toast for the kids for breakfast and the most awful smell of cooking cat urine started permeating the room. The cat had urinated in my brand new red kitchenaid toaster (a present from my mom!).
I had to throw it out. To this day I have trouble imagining how the cat managed this feat!!!

When Sheba peed on my while I was sleeping, she did get flying lessons, and it wasn't even my intention. I just jumped up so fast, she thumped against the wall (apparently none the worse for wear).

I've heard that relieving themselves over running water is instinctive to some species of wild cats. I also recently learned from animal planet that in the wild, only subordinate animals "hide" their wastes (though the toaster seems a bit extreme, LOL). Dominant animals "display" the wastes as a declaration of territory and dominance (you don't think a cat would be smart enough to actually plan to use the toaster for this, do you? Talk about smoke signals, eww).

When our new kitty ChubChub arrived, she did immediately use the litterbox, but she did not bury the poops. She is a bossy cat, and whether she was asserting her dominance over the lingering scent of our recently departed kitty (former user of the litter box) or against us, we're not sure, but have our suspicions. She did definitely believe that she should be alpha cat, as she would "claim" furniture as soon as one of us would get up, she'd sit in our chair and refuse to leave (we had to pick her up and dump her on the floor). Once we established that we were the bosses, she started burying her poops. I don't think it was a coincidence.

Dogs aren't really well known for hiding their business, but my parents had a maltese who while being potty trained learned to hide the evidence. He would poop in corners (I don't know how he got his little heinie so tight against the wall) and other inconspicuous places, and once pulled a throw rug over a poop (not kidding).

Too funny.

Now that is a very good example of the sage advice of, "You shouldn't believe or try to copy things you see in movies."

Oh my.. I tried toilet training the monster you see in my avatar. He had the idea down, but just couldn't grasp the concept of NOT pooping on the seat. I found myself scrubbing that toilet ALL THE TIME to rid it of cat poop. What was worse, he got the runs. BAD.. After a week, I gave up and went back to the kitty box. :dizzy:
