3 mile jog with both dogs. We caught the last of the sunshine...right now it is either raining or snowing...looks like it can't decide. Going to take a breather for myself, then if it isn't too bad, take Beorn scootering to the store. That 3 miles didn't put a dent in Mister ADHD-Dog. ;)

jamsk8r 04-20-2008 04:35 PM

Okay, 2 miles scootering with Beorn, 1.5 miles with Gracie. They're having a nice nap in the sunshine, while it lasts.

jamsk8r 04-21-2008 11:40 PM

Today I played some retrieves with the dogs...er, "dog", because Gracie just watched me throw the kong, ran over, looked at it, and ran back to me, lol. Then we did some weight pulling with the drag sled. I'm trying to devise ways to take some of the excess energy off my big dog, and I'm resetting my dog exercise goal to doing something active with both dogs at least once a day. Today's "workout" was a resounding success. Both dogs are sacked out on the dog bed in the kitchen! :)

i did a mile today and yesterday with the mutt. Weather has turned nice (:

GatorgalstuckinGA 04-22-2008 09:55 PM

walked my mutt twice today. Got up early in the am and did my 1 mile walk before work and since it was such a pretty night..had to go for round 2. I think she liked it.

Sorry, didn't mean to go AWOL. Been hectic around here this week, then I did something stupid to my knee, so the dog walking and such is on hold for another day or two. Meanwhile, they've been playing in the yard and getting some exercise that way and with some retrieves. Gracie doesn't care to fetch things, but Beorn does, and Gracie likes to chase him while he does it. ;)

Ladies,

i just found your challenge and would like to join in. I have an English Bulldog named Axel and loves to go on walks. We havent been for weeks. I have been soooo lazy and I feel sorry for him. So, I would like to make my goal 5x per week if not more. So far in the last week i have lost 5 lbs just from eating clean, and I think the walking will help. I am starting my Body for Life challenge May 24th after DH gets home from Iraq and we get all settled in again.....11 more days til hubby comes home!!!

jamsk8r 05-03-2008 03:56 AM

Welcome! Good luck with your challenge goal! Hopefully you'll do better than I have!

Sorry I've been missing, but both mowers broke, then the washing machine...as soon as I spent the last of my money on those repairs, my son's cat got sick, and I had no money left to take him to the vet...finally can do it first thing tomorrow morning, but I've been worried sick about that all week, trying to keep him well enough till I could be sure of affording the visit, meds and such.

ETA: good news on the cat...he is going to be fine, just on antibiotics, but looked much better by this morning, and vet said he's healing up great. I'm so relieved!

I tried skating Weds night, and my knee did not like it. It's been really sore first thing in the morning, then better during the day, and sore again in the evening when I'm tired. If I have any money left after the vet, I might buy a brace for it, to try and give it a rest. Guess I will have to make do with upper body work until it heals up. :(

I am so sorry "life" gave you a tough week kiddo. I know all about those vet bills! One of my dogs has cost me over $2,000!

Well in the last two days the mutts and I have been to the duck pond and trails and the Starbucks walk for a total of 7 miles for them. I have done some treadmill too.

Here is praying next week is better for you 'SK8!

Operator265 05-03-2008 10:12 PM

I like this challenge. Unfortunately, I'm in the sick dog catagory. Mine just had surgery two days ago for stones blocking him up, then had to spend last night at the vet's for vomiting blood. I just entered EZ's $2,000 territory, probably $3,500 by the time this is all over. What's eerie is I had some surprise money come in just the day before it all went down that was just enough to cover it. They say God looks out for fools and small animals, so I guess we both were covered. Hopefully, in about a week or two we can join the challenge. In the meantime, I better get my butt back on the treadmill. Good luck all.

Thanks, EZ! I'm pretty sure it has to be better! It's already better, really, just knowing the cat is going to be fine. :)

Op, sorry to hear that...I hope your dog will be better soon. I had a dog that used to eat all sorts of things, and had to have an operation to remove a blockage. I know it can be very expensive as well as stressful!

EZMONEY 05-05-2008 08:26 AM

OPERATOR I am so sorry for you and your dog! Hugs!! I hope things work out as best they can not only for health but $$$.

Glad things are looking up Cheryl.

Angie and I took ours out for a 4 mile Starbucks and Bunny Poo Park walk yesterday morning.

Thanks for the reply, Cookie! Times per week sounds like a plan, though I think it's alright if others want to post another type of goal. If it gets the dogs (and people) up and moving, it's all good. :)

My dogs get lots of dog play, but that's still not the same as getting out in the world for some running or swimming or just a walk, so my aim is to fix that. My goal to start will be 3 times per week, starting today.

Anyone want to revive this. My dogs and I both need it!

Hi Dennise, I'm in, 3 dogs and so little time ......lol

I walk either 2 of them or all 3 at a time, my crazy Yorkie is a pain to walk.
Usually every day, 30-40 min.
I should up it.

DixieAmazon 11-30-2009 06:57 AM

I have a elderly boxer and a 2yo hound mix (looks like a redbone coon hound, but a little smaller). The Amber the hound is a big pain to walk but I hope that will get better as I walk her more often. I know it helps with her hyperness.
