Meet my tort! ^_^

  • This is my sweet Greek tortoise, Tao Tao (allthough i usually just call him "tortoise" , lol). I found him on our driveway 4 years ago, and now hes still with me. My dad build him a little house as a shelter, and i fill it up with dried gras and sand. I let him out in the garden in the morning, and take him back in when its his bedtime. When im out he has to stay in his enclosure.

He loves carrots, tomato, banana, a slice of apple, cucumber, dandelions, clovers,..A true vegetarian

  • He's beautiful...and how awesome that he found you in the garden!! You sound like a very good tortoise owner. I wouldn't even know where to begin...I'm more of a cat person, myself.
  • Hahaha...Actually, the trick is the leave him alone as much as possible..He doesnt like being pet or picked up or anything "cuddly" !
  • I love turtles. One day, I'd love to have a turtle pond in my backyard (whenever I get a backyard) although not sure how well how that'd work for cold weather.
  • What a cool pet. He looks like he's a pretty good size too, but could probably grow waaaaaayyyyyy bigger. Does he dig holes in the yard?
  • Oh he's very cute! I had two turtles once, they got to swim in the bathtub :P
  • He doesnt dig much, he only digs himself in the sand when its time for his hibernation.
He's actually an adult male Greek tortoise, so hes fullgrown females can get alot bigger though!
  • that is realy cool !
  • He looks very happy! I had an African Spur Thighed Tortoise. He got to be 300#! And he ate a diet much like the one you're feeding. I was always having to tell people the difference in turtles from tortoises. (in case anyone here wants to know): A tortoise is a land animal and a turtle is semi- aquatic.
  • That’s great, to have tortoise as pet. There are very less people who rear tortoise but in fact it is a very calm animal.
