Looking for tips on SBD while nursing
I have seen a few threads about this but wanted to get more info, tips and personal thoughts.
I am nervous to really diet while nursing but need something!;) |
I heard that SBD Phase 2 is fine for breastfeeding. I had a hard time sticking to it though, so now I've switched to Body for Life eating - which is nursing friendly too - and I find it easier to follow. Good luck!

Whole grains & lean protein is exactly how any nutritionist will tell you to eat. So Phase II of SBD is just fine for losing weight while nursing. Just don't follow the menus given in the book; they're simply not enough calories. Build your meals around fiber & protein, which are filling. Breakfast for me in the past has often been something like oatmeal (3/4 c) with lowfat milk, artificial sweetener, & a bit of peanut butter. And an apple. That keeps me full until well into the afternoon, usually.

My Dr said SBD was ok for nursing as long as I started in Phase II and took a pre natal vitamin. Good luck!!!
