Flying

Have any of you flown in an airplane during pregnancy?

We're flying from Indiana to California for Thanksgiving to visit my in-laws. I will be 25-26 weeks along at that point. My doctor doesn't see any problem with it except told me I can't take Ativan which I normally down like candy just to get my freaked out *** onto the plane. I'm still not sure about that - everything I read says it causes a 1% higher risk of cleft palate if taken in the first trimester but I find nothing about taking it for 2 days in the 2nd trimester. Hmmm.

Anyway, it's not an Ativan question really , but a flying when pregnant question.

Is it harder? I was feeling pretty good til I read one lady's story of her water breaking prematurely due to the change in pressure. I don't think that's really possible, but of course it plants worries!

I wouldn't worry about the flying, it is safest in 2nd trimester. Try and get a meditation cd and headphones and listen to it instead of the medication, it will all be okay.

I'm 15 weeks and just flew this week. I'm actually out of town right now. My Dr. said it is perfectly safe, but not to do it well into your 3rd trimester just in case problems arise.

I flew several times when I was pregnant w/ my son. The only thing I would suggest would be to drink plenty of water during your trip & move your legs often. I'm sure your doc has informed ya about these , just wanted to let you know what helped me!!! Have a great time!
