My hubs *can* cook healthy meals... he just chooses not to. lol He would if I asked, but honestly, I haven't asked since this kid has been born.
Yeah, I don't have a ticker. I gained about 40 lbs this pregnancy, so it's manageable. Right now I have about 25 pounds to get to pre-pregnancy weight, and about 35 to get to goal weight, so I can approach it kind of slowly. I am short, though, so extra weight does not look good on me. I have set Hubby's work Christmas party as a goal for myself. He works with a lot of women and he's a good-looking guy/good catch, so I definitely want to look my best when I see his co-workers. Yeah, the newborn stage is harder than I remember, but easier, too, in a way now that it's the third. I kind of know what to expect, and I don't feel like a bumbling "new parent." I felt so lost with my first kid! But I do have a few emotional/hormonal issues... I cry at the drop of a hat! And I'm not a crier usually. But even a sad commercial sends me reaching for tissues now. lol I babywear, so that actually helps with the weight loss. Once my incision is more healed I'll be wearing this kid a ton. It's like walking around with a weight vest! Great calorie burn. :) We are completely and totally finished having kids. Hubs got snipped last month. Honestly, this one was a "surprise blessing," if you know what I mean. We thought we were finished with two. I am a crappy pregnant lady--moody, cranky, uncomfortable--it's not something I want to go through again. And I hate the weight gain (and then the effort of losing the weight) that I have to go through each time. But all that's worth it for the blessing of a child, and I could overlook it all, except I'm an "older" mom. I am 39 years old. Having more kids would be a risk for me and them because of my age. So yeah, Hubs got fixed and we are totally done. :) |
Ah, Christmas is a great goal!! What you have to lose, Christmas is doable definitely! My DH also has an annual Xmas party. I went two years ago when I was 145 lbs and felt good that hubby was able to bring a "thin" wife. Last year I was prego and sick, so we didnt go. This year I'd hate to go fatter than I am remembered...so idk
I can totally get wanting to look good especially for other women he works with. Its weird but if anyone has ever even eyeballed your husband, they are going to be comparing themselves to you. Girls are so catty like that! It looks like you are looking at about 60 lbs to goal, but do you have a "feel good" goal. What I mean is, for me, my goal goal is 130 lbs, I feel "normal" at 160, since that's the weight I maintained through most of my 20s before getting pregnant (this 200 lbs stuff is only from baby making!) . Above 160 I feel like the 300 lbs gorilla in the room. (pun intended)...So once I get to 160 I feel at least feel good enough to go to functions like a party. Now that I've explained my weirdo question, lol, do you have a weight before goal where you'd feel comfortable while you work to take off the final pounds? I'm a miserable pregnant lady too. No fun to be around. Its actually shows on this board a little. I'm quicker to tell someone off that's crawled under my skin. I am happy about not going through any pregnancies again. This one was our gift after two pregnancy losses, so we are grateful, but not wanting to try again. Hubby and I have talked about him getting snipped too! But I'm 32 and he's only 30 (I know I know ;) ) So we might wait until I hit 35, magic number right? And then make the final move. I'm done, but I think he feels too young to make that move, and I respect that. Baby wearing! I think I wore my second. And as weird as it is that I can't remember, I can't...I think we bought a baby wearing thing and I think I did wear him. I remember it being the kind that he laid on my tummy/chest facing me...you know for the life of me I can't remember if wearing him was "successful" or if I stopped because it just didn't work out. (You know I used to be a very bright person with a wickedly awesome memory...now with kids and being pregnant, I'm like an alzheimers patient...) Anyway, wearing is good because it lets you keep your hands free with babies that want to be held all the time. And I know my second was one of those babies....eh, I'll ask DH when he gets home, maybe he'll remember... Hehe, I love that one of the good points about baby wearing is extra calorie burn! I have to admit I a little excited about the extra calorie burn with BFing. Although you were saying that you felt you held onto weight with BFing. Did you calorie count? I know I asked about this already in another post, which I'll go look at after I'm done typing :) And I think you replied, but of course I forget!! (surprise!) I have heard women say that they cannot get the last 10 lbs off while BFing. Since I have about 100lbs to go, I'm sure I'll have stopped BFing before then. I'm glad to hear you are doing well and that the baby is happy and healthy. My second had the same issue with the jaundice at first too, our pediatrician said its very common with BF babies. I'm glad to hear that it was not a bigger issue for your little one. :) I'm a little jealous that you have you baby and are not prego anymore!!! I can't wait to have the baby, be able to bend over again lol and start losing this weight. I'm hoping this time that hubby will join me too! |
Congrats on your date. I'm at 36 weeks and I know what you mean by being ready to have your body back.
I hope all goes well for you and look forward to seeing you back around the boards when things have settled in. |

With my first kid, the weight really stuck on. I didn't calorie count (I am not much of a calorie counter), but I did really try to watch what I ate and I was exercising a pretty good amount (daily hour-long walks with baby strapped to my back). I just could not get the final few pounds off. With my second kid, though, the weight came off pretty easily. I didn't calorie count then, either, but I did start eating paleo and IFing to lose those last 10 vanity pounds. At this point, I've got 20 pounds to go until I'm "okay," and another 10 more after that to reach goal weight. I kind of have a feeling that I'm going to cling to the fat this time around, though. And my hips. My poor, poor hips. Even though I had a c-section, my hips spread a ton during pregnancy. I fear they will never be the same again... Oh, I forgot to tell you: I bought some frozen dinners! lol Not a lot... just a few. I figure they might work for those days when I need a quick lunch that I can eat with one hand. Better than grabbing a couple of doughnuts. ;) |

I lost the weight from baby #1 with WW, and baby #2 calorie counting at first. I dont know the details about paleo, but after baby #2 I got into running and just starting eating clean, whole foods only, lower carb. That plus the running and the weigth came off pretty easily. As for the frozen dinners they are helpful now! And I think you will be glad you have them as a fall back for now, as a calorie controled choice in a hurry. Do you plan to go back to paleo? My plan is as I have more time to go back to whole foods and cook and eventually get away from the prepackaged stuff, but its a life saver in the beginning. Most of our meals when I was cooking were meat and fresh veggies, or whole grains. I actually was making my own bread for a while, so it had no sugar, just whole wheat flour, yeast and a little salt. And since I didnt make it everyday, we werent eating bread all the time. I made homemade pancakes (no added sugar, all whole ingredients) and froze them for the kids. It was great! But as the pregnancy has progressed I do not feel like spending that long in the kitchen! I've heard a lot of women say that their hips have spread. Are you an apple or pear shape? I am a pear and I always had big hips and very small waist, and I didnt like it because it was really unproportionate. After having my first son my waist was wider, even when I lost the weight, it wasn't left over fat, it was like my waist was just wider. But I know women that their hips got bigger and even if they are thin, they cant fit into their old pants because of it! I hope thats not the case with you (unless you want it that way!) Sometimes your hips just need time to go back to their old size too. Were they permenantly bigger after your other kids? I dont think I ever asked you, but do have to go back to work? I did with my first two, but I'm officially stay at home mom now. I'm looking forward to not balancing 3 kids, work, and home. Although, I will be going back to school online to continue with my degree. I put it on hold while hubby was in school. Now its my turn. You are so lucky to have your baby! I think I said that last time! lol I am counting down the slowest 9 days in my life! :dizzy: |

So my baby was 8 pounds and 9 oz when he was born. When I came back from the hospital, I was... wait for it... 8 pounds lighter. Yeah. I hadn't even lost the amount of weight the baby weighed!! I attribute this to extra fluid I was hanging onto. For some reason, when I left the hospital, I was retaining fluid even more than I did when I was pregnant! But boy, it was depressing to see those numbers at first. Since then (baby was 3 weeks on Saturday), I've lost 14 pounds. Geez... it doesn't sound like much when I type it out. lol My plan is to go back to paleo, or maybe semi-paleo since I'm nursing. Paleo is lower carb and very clean--nothing processed at all--no grains, no dairy. I'll probably eat some white potatoes, some white rice, and some dairy. But I'll still try to keep it clean for the most part. My hips were permanently bigger after my first kid, but they never got really huge. I am an apple shape. I tend to carry my weight all in my midsection. I'm a WAHM. I mostly SAHM--I plan to homeschool my kids--but I do work part-time as a writer. I'm self-employed, so I can work whenever I want and do however much I want. At this point, I am doing very little. ;) But maybe I'll be able to squeeze in an hour or two of work daily in a few months. You're new little one will be here soon! So exciting! |

omg on losing 8 pounds after a 8 lb 9 oz baby!!! You are not the first person I have heard say that. Its funny because in the "text books" from when I was in nursing school, they say that the placenta weighs blah balh, the uterus weighs blah blah and the fluid in the amniotic sac weighs blah balh, plus the baby, so the woman will lose a total of blah blah before she leaves...HAhahaha! Then there's real life!! I had an appointment the other day and the baby is measuring big, they are saying another 8 lbs + baby, which I'm not thrilled about only because my first was 8 4 and I tore with him. :( My second was 7 10 and I have the easiest labor! My doc is pretty confident that it has more to do with first versus second baby, and I hope he is right!!! 14 pounds is good for 3 weeks. That's like 5 pounds a week, of course a portion of it is likely fluid but still, it more than the sloooowww pace of 1-2 pounds a week that it ends up being eventually. Still I get it, when you work so hard to get the weight off, even though is for a happy reason (baby!) its still a downer to see it back on. I've got a lot to go to just get the baby weight off plus a little more to get to my goal, so I'm giving my self a year, but I'd like to get to 160 by Xmas, though it really depends on how much comes off in those first few weeks after delivery if I can do it. I'd also like to be back to running outside (well walk a little jog a little! lol) by late fall this year, and hopefully running 5K again by next summer. My DH keeps saying that I now have the rest of my life to do it so no rush, but you know how it is, Its just nice to feel back to yourself asap. :) Wow 3 weeks already, actually today is friday, so tomorrow he'll be a month. Doesnt it go so fast? I feel like it goes faster with each one. The first it felt like forever, but the second seemed to grow faster! lol WAHM is nice! I'd like to do that eventually. I'm an RN and I only have a few classes left towards my BSN. I've looked into some positions with insurance companies where I would do most of work from home but still ahve to go into the office like once a week for various things. With my DH's schedule it is pretty much impossible for me to hold a job outside the house without putting the kids in daycare, something that we dont want to do unless it were finally necessary. I can't even work around his schedule as it changes day today, including the time he goes in and comes home. I've tried in the past and we run into a lot of problems. What kind of stuff do you write? A "friend" of mine (meaning person I knew from 4 th grade that found me on facebook last year who also happens to have 10000000 facebook friends lol) just wrote a book. I haven't read it, its not really my style, but he seems to be doing well. He still lives locally and is doing a book signing in Sept. I wouldnt go even if I didnt just have the baby because we haven't talked since grade school, and he doesnt really use facebook to talk I think its more to promote his book, but still its cool to know some one that wrote a book. Homeschooling sounds like a huge task! I think with 3 kids I wouldnt be able to do it. Although having said that, hubby and I already discussed that if for any reason school was a problem for any of our kids, even if I were already back to work or whatever (I would quit) and that we would give them the option to be homeschooled. For me its like this security measure that I know I am not going to be forced to send my child off to school should there be a reason he is not safe, or is not leanring because of social distractions. I worry most about my oldest as he has some social challenges, which is the "reason" it was recommended to us not to homeschool him (because we thought about it). Therapists he has seen said he needs to learn now how to act in social settings. He has a high functioning autism diagnosis, and he had years of social skills therapy to learn to have a conversation although he can still sound scripted at times, he;s doing better. My 3 year old is typical, so its been an experience seeing how a child should be conversing at 3 as opposed to how my son was. At any rate, that is the exact reason that I worry he might be bullied because he doesnt pick up on social cues and doesnt always respond appropriately, so that is why we will always keep homeschooling as an option. I actually asked him after kindergarten if he wanted to stay home for 1st grade and he cried that he likes school, so off he goes and I'm a nervous reck!! He's also exceptional bright (he tested at a 4th grade level for reading and math last year) so DH and I are not thrilled with the fact that school will in no way be giving him work that's at his level. Even their gifted and talented classes will not be advanced enough, I already talked with the school about it. I've looked into giving him "extra" work at home that will be at his level, but I feel bad that he would be getting double the work. I already know he'll be getting a ton of "homework" from school but what a waste of his time that he has to complete work on stuff he already knows. Seems ridiculous to me. But we'll see how it goes, and at least I know if he needs to he can stay home and be homeschool. Although it makes me nervous since I am not a teacher, and I can't imagine being able to teach him properly. I'm afraid I wouldnt know/remember a lot of the stuff especially in the higher grades. I guess thats what the textbooks are for... |
You're getting close GG! :) Hope all goes well for you!!!
