Hi everyone, not new to 3FC but now preggo!

  • Hi everyone,

I'm not new to 3fc, but I just found out I was pregnant w/my third child. I am afraid because I am very overweight, I have had two baby boys (via c-section) the first was born in 2007, the second in December of 2008. After other failed methods of bc, I decided to use the Depo shot, and gained 68lbs and developed high bp, as well as a ton of other horrid side effects so I decided to come off of it and allow my system to straighten out. I was on a good track to losing weight, lost 10 lbs in month one, and now discovered I am pregnant. I know I need to keep losing weight for my own health and my baby's health, but I am a little worried. I plan to continue w/my workout routine, I only walk on the treadmill 3 miles a day, not 3 miles straight tho, I break it up a mile at a time, and I play wii fit for about 2 hours a day. I know to just listen to my body, I guess my question is, has anyone lost weight in their pregnancy instead of gaining it? If so, was your baby safe and sound? Should I continue to work out and try to lose weight or stop all together, I'm not sure. My first doctor's appt wont be for a few weeks, but I'm curious. Thank you for all the wonderful help and advice in advance. I look forward to meeting many new firends on the pregnancy thread over these next 9 months. Have a great week everyone!!!!! Best wishes, Lorie.
  • Congrats on the pregnancy!!
  • Trying to lose weight while pregnant is not recommended. Just continue to eat healthy and exercise. I tried to lose weight while I was pregnant and had a miscarriage. It stresses the baby I think.

Congrats on the pregnancy! Good luck.
  • Congrats on baby #3! I am in the same boat, 3rd baby on the way and nowhere near my goal weight. I am attempting to continue eating healthy and keep up on the exercising, but have tried to up my calories to compensate for baby. So far, I have lost another few pounds because I am so nauseated that I really can't eat much in the morning. But I was overweight with both of my other kids and had relatively smooth pregnancies. I would quit trying to lose weight for now, but you don't need to gain any this early in pregnancy either. Just keep up the exercising and eat healthy until you go into the doctor. At this point, you can talk to her about your diet and she can make recommendations for weight gain taking into consideration your weight and other health risks.
  • Thanks ladies!! Congrats on your wonderful babies!!!! Thank you very much for all the advice, I think I will continue just to try eat healthy and just do low intense exercise, like walking. I go to the doctor tomorrow and will ask about cal intake and weight gain. Thanks again very much, I hope all your babies are born healthy and perfect and I know they will all be beautiful!!! Good luck and congrats to you all!!!!
