Need advice about dieting and breastfeeding

Hey everyone,

My newest addition is 11 weeks old. She is my third and last child. I am ready to get serious about loosing this weight for the last time. I have never dieted or exercised very much while breastfeeding my other two. However, this time I want to take advantage of the breastfeeding. I want to make sure that I am doing what is safe for my baby girl. I am supposed to go join the gym next week and sign up for a trainer 3 times a week. I am concerned about the food that I eat. I have always had a weight problem and had lost 45 lbs on LA weightloss and held it until June 08. So, I never made my goal. I need to loose at least 85lbs. I know that it will not be easy or fast. I am not looking for a quick fix. I want a healthy and effective one. So, any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on your new baby!

You might want to check out the weight loss FAQ's on Kellymom.com (http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mo...eightloss.html) They have some good guidelines.

I kept exercise very light during the first 6 months because my son had GERD and every time I worked out, he was more likely to spit up my breastmilk. Weird.

The only other thing I have heard one more than one occasion is that the toxins that are stored in your fat are leached into your breastmilk when you lose weight.

Anyway, check out Kellymom.

I'm bfing a 7 week old. I started the Eat to Live diet recently and I lost 3 lbs this week, which for me is phenomenal. I have a history of low milk supply (last baby - though I bf for 2.5 yrs, I always had to supplement), so I was nervous about weight loss and bfing this new baby (7 wks) and that I could lose my supply.

My supply has increased. I guess it's all of the fresh, nutritious foods (I was trying to lose before by eating protein bars and whatever else I could easily get my hands on).

Anyhow, I'm following it pretty close to the letter (not 100% but pretty close), and getting good results.
