Still prego in October...

Hello everyone! I did not see any new threads for pegos in October so I thought I'd start one.
I'm still prego..33 weeks and I'm sooo ready for this baby to come out! As for weight gain, I gave up on that 2 months ago, but I'm doing well. Feels like I'm burning up 1000 calories just lugging this child around, trying to pick up things I dropped and getting up out of chairs...

HOWEVER..if hear someone tell me what they can't do because of my weight Im going to scream...for example, the stress test lady says "I may not be able to get a good reading because of your weight". She got one and a good one at that. The ultrasound lady told me "I may not be able to get a good picture of your baby because of your weight"..she got one, it was perfect. So now when ever someone starts a sentence with "I may not..." I say "Try" then let me know!

BTW I am a planned C-section so I know her birthday! How is everyone else out there?

MeganBeth 10-08-2009 09:32 PM

I'm still here! I have a feeling I wont make it until Dec 7th though, all I ask is that he stays in until I'm 36 weeks.

It's so hard to believe I'll be 32 weeks on monday!

kestrel 10-08-2009 09:58 PM

I just found out early last week that #4 (big surprise!) is on the way, sometime in mid-June. So, my weight loss journey is on hold until the babe is a few months old.

I'm only about 10 lbs away from my goal weight, so a bit disappointed I didn't make it. I was also hoping to never see above 200# again, which I know may happen during pregnancy. I don't get on scales at all during my pregnancies, though, so I'm just going to let my body do what it needs to in order to grow a healthy babe.

lovinlifex2 10-09-2009 01:33 PM

Hi ladies,

I hope that everyone is doing well. I feel like this pregnancy is flying by for me. Maybe that is because I am so busy with the three other kids. I guess that is a good thing, except I am not ready for this baby to be here.

I was at my sisters this weekend for her daughters 1st birthday and I just kept thinking...I am going to have one that age and a newborn - how am I ever going to do this??? It seems like at 1 they are still such babies. Joe is a huge help and I know we will manage, but it still a little overwhelming at times.

tiff - I am sorry that people are being less than compassionate with you. I can't imagine people being on me about my weight like that. I would just want to be like, excuse me I am about to give life to another human being...could you please cut me a little slack here. I know that you already feel so big and unattravtive - hang in there.

megan - do you have a history of early babies??? Good luck keeping the little one in for as long as you can. My kids were all early - 10 days, 7 days and the last one was 13 days early. I am sure this one will be early too, but I guess babies have a schedule all of their own. They pretty much decide when they will make their appearance, hugh.

kestrel - congrats on baby #4. How old are your other kids and do you have boys or girls? I have a son - age 10, daughter age 8 and another son who is 9 months old. Both my husband and I come from large families - he has 7 brothers and sisters. I have 6 sisters and NO brothers. We both love the dynamic of a large family and are taking it one baby at a time. How many kids are you wanting?

Everyone take care - ttfn.

MeganBeth 10-09-2009 03:08 PM

DS1 was 6 days late, this pregnancy has just been SOOOO different. I feel like my body fell apart by 12 weeks some days

kestrel 10-09-2009 04:21 PM

We were planning on 2 kids, but apparently (despite his claims otherwise), DH has some hangups about getting a vasectomy. So, #3 was a birth control pill surprise and #4 was a surprise too. :o I had lost about 55# since my weight stabilized after DD2 was a few months old, so I'm glad to at least be in better shape for this pregnancy.

Tiffrutherf 10-09-2009 11:09 PM

Thanks guys! I had another doctors appointment and yes again the doctor told me that I needed to lose wieght so I could be around to raise my kids...what gives with? I am so sick of people assuming just because your overweight your unhealthy. My blood pressure is low, my colesteral is normal...augg!!

4myloves 10-13-2009 10:43 AM

I'm still hanging in as well! Had to break out the maternity clothes over the week-end. Luckily, my last pregnancy was in cool weather, too! Couldn't find any of my pants, though--I'm hoping they're just packed somewhere else and I don't have to buy any.

So far my doctor has been really cool about my weight. He DID let me know I need to try to lose some (I really don't think I'd respect him as a doctor if he didn't), but he's not overly pushy.

What I hate is how people automatically ASSUME that there's a 2-kid limit these days. At least that's how they are in my area. When they find out I'm having a little girl this time they inevitably make some remark like: "Oh, so you'll have a boy and a girl--a complete family." Whatever. Ugh.

jasmine987 10-13-2009 11:50 AM

your doctors are asking you to lose weight while you are pregnant? My doctor has not said anything like that and I have already gained a lot since my first visit. I want to cut back on calories but isnt the end of the pregnancy the worst time to try to diet?

lovinlifex2 10-13-2009 01:46 PM

Am I the only one who's midwife has not said anything about losing weight. She is actually very sweet when I get on the scale every time with dread. She said as long as I don't have abd excessive gain she is not worried about my weight. She is actually reassuring that I will have plenty of time to lose the weight one the baby is here. Right now our main focus is on a healthy baby she says. I am sure all doctors are different though.

4myself - I got that same "perfect" family thing when I had my first son and daughter. I guess that is the american dream - to have a boy and girl. I obviously thougth our perfect family was not complete and think that every one's ideal family is different. For us it will probably be 5 or 6 kids, but for others 2 is ideal. I guess people can just be pushy with their opinions. How many kids are you guys thinking about having??

MeganBeth 10-13-2009 02:33 PM

I had my 32 week appt yesterday and it went good. I'm measuring 33 weeks but my BP hasn't gone above 120/70 at all the entire pg! Baby did give us a little scare though she couldn't find his hearbeat but could see (yes see he's a big mover it's creepy sometime) him moving. She had me roll on my side while she jostled my belly a bit and he started beating again. MW said he probably squeezed his cord until he passed out which she's seen babys do on u/s more than once. Leave it to my child... I'm going to be in trouble with these two boys!

lovinlifex2 10-13-2009 02:37 PM

Oh my goodness - that would have scare me to death.

What an onry little guy - did she not seem concerned about that happening?

Tiffrutherf 10-13-2009 02:45 PM

He told me after the baby...this was not my normal doc. this was a specialist. My normal doc. is too awesome. He he has never said too much about my wieght. Its when I dont see him that I get comments like this!

I know one thing I am ready to have this baby! hows everyone eles hagging in there?

No she wasn't worried about it because he had a VERY good recovery time. If it had taken more than a couple of seconds for him to recover then I think there would have been a problem. It probably helped that she could see him roll from one side of my belly to the other too

Original "goal" was 4. The problem I running into now, though, is that I'm 33 years old and obese. I've GOT to lose some more weight before we start trying for #3, or we may not start trying. I'm hoping that BF'ing will help me drop some pounds, because it did with Jake, but we all know every pregnancy/baby is different!!

That would have scared the crap out of me!! I worry if she's not kicking me to my satisfaction! I love laying in bed at night or in the morning and feeling her pounding and dancing away!

4myloves 10-13-2009 03:14 PM

It's official--danged soap opera!

I don't know if any of you watch General Hospital, but Carly and Jax are having a little girl. They've picked the name Josslyn for their baby.

That means when my child starts school there are going to be 5 Josslyn/Jocelyn/etc.'s and then my JOYCELYN. Everybody is going to think my well-planned baby name is after some soap opera character's child.

I know exactly what you mean. It seems like the older I get the harder it is to lose this baby weight. Breastfeeding didn't help me lose anything with Johnathon. It felt like I was more hungry when I was nursing than when I was pregnant. Granted he was a very good eater and that may have contributed with needing to keep my supply boosted up.

We are wanting at least 1 or 2 more also, but I told Joe the same thing. I really would like to lose some weight before we try for baby #5. And I think my body just really needs a break. 2 babies in 2 years is taking its toll on my body. I am 31, but Joe is 45 so we really don't want to wait to long to compete our family with him being up there in years. :)

I think Jocelyn is a beautiful name!!

We had the name Lillian Elizabeth all picked out had Johnathon been a girl. At his one week check up the nurse called for Lillian and 3 girls got up. There couldn't have been but maybe 5 or 6 little girls in there total. I still think it is a beautiful name, but I am having a hard time convincing Joe that it is not "that common" and we should still use our Lillian Elizabeth.

4myloves 10-15-2009 11:02 AM

I had my 28 week check up yesterday. To my horror, I got the report that I've gained TWELVE pounds in 4 weeks!!! Incredible! The doctor says the baby is too big for her age, but I went through the same thing with Jake, so I'm hoping everything is fine. I've got to go in for the sugar-loading test to see if I have Gestational Diabetes becaue if my rapid weight gain and her size.

I'm kind of worried, because her stomach is almost a week and a half ahead of the rest of her body in development. It's been that way since at least week 16, but he said it should even out on its own before now, and it hasn't. When I asked him if I needed to be worried he didn't tell me no.

If any of y'all pray, I'd appreciate a quick request that my baby be healthy, both mentally and physically.

lovinlifex2 10-15-2009 02:38 PM

Oh goodness, that is scary. You will definatley be in my thoughts and prayers. I know it is easier said than done, but try not to worry too much until you actually know something. Here is to hoping your little one is just being onry in there and laying funny so her measurements are coming out funny.

Good luck and definatley keep us posted.

Gale02 10-15-2009 04:34 PM

4myself, I'm praying for you. Let us know what's going on when you find out.

Tiffrutherf 10-15-2009 10:33 PM

myself I will pray for you also! Even it if is GD its not bad, I have it and I still don't understand what all the drama is about!! People seem like they going to their death when the have to take the test.
I found out early and opted to take insulin...and I must say this pg. I only gained 12 pounds (which is why I get pissed at some doctors remarks), and baby is growing right on track so the pay off is soooo worth it!

4myloves 10-16-2009 09:47 AM

Thank you all!!

4myloves 10-28-2009 12:01 PM

Hey! Just checking in, as I've been out of town for awhile!

I hope that since I'm the last one that's posted you've all been out enjoying life and experiencing happy pregnancies!

Only one week 'till I get to see my baby again! She's been kicking and rolling like a little soccer player!

MeganBeth 10-28-2009 01:01 PM

I had a check up Monday and I'm just now 1.5 lbs over my starting weight. Liam is doing great all the rolling around he's doing is getting to the point of being painful though, I swear I've got to be bruised on the inside, he's SO SOSO much more active than Xander ever was.

lovinlifex2 10-29-2009 02:08 PM

We are ok here - busy and tired, but my sons last football game is this week so things should slow down until soccer starts back up again.

Things were sailing along so well and then we hit a big bump. It seems they have been finding small amounts of protien in my urine so I had to do a 24 hour urine collection and it was also elevated. Along with my blood pressure climbing up they are worried that I am starting to see early signs of preeclampsia already. They have sent me to a perinatologist and they did a level 2 u/s. She said that baby looks good and is growing well at 1lb 5oz so far, but they will keep a close eye on me.

So it will be lots of doctor visits from now until d-day. I will see my midwife once a week, an OB in their practice once a month (the same one who delivered my first two kids before they had midwives there) and the perinatologist once a month. At 28 weeks I will start having weekly non stress tests and weekly 24 hour urine collections.

I am glad they are being so thorough and on top of things, but it is going to be a long 14 weeks left. Our main goal is a healthy baby and I intend to do all I can to make that happen.

I will fill in more as I know. Thanks for letting me share ladies.

Take care everyone!

jahjah1223 10-29-2009 08:04 PM

Hey Kestrel ! congrats My #4 is on the way as well lol

Tiffrutherf 10-30-2009 06:59 PM

I'm still here, my c-section date has finally been set for the 17th..I cant get over the fact that in less then 18 days i will meet my DD. I'm getting ready for Halloween (I have 2 monsters to take trick or treating) then after that I'm putting up my Christmas decorations because I will be in the hospital and I am sure I wont feel like doing it after surgery.
for now I am just planning for my absence so I'm keeping busy. I am really big so getting around is hard (she going to be at least 8 1/2 pounds)! All I want to do is SLEEP!

MeganBeth 10-30-2009 07:37 PM

yay so close for you!! For some reason I think this little guy is going to come early. All I want to do is hang in there until 37 weeks so I can have my birth at the birthing center and not have to go to the hospital. I tested + for GBS early in my pg so I'm a bit worried about making it there ON TIME for meds, I know 2 people in the last 3 months who've had their babies in their cars so it's freaking me out.

Still worried about DH not being able to get home from work too, at least my MW lives close and will be here for an unplanned home birth fast if we need it. I just pray that DH's shop doesn't get hit with the 10 feet "worst case prediction" (best case is 3 feet of water) of water/flooding when the levy goes. If it does he'll have to work out of a different shop almost 2hrs away. Oh and I can't drive our car to get myself anywhere :(

kestrel 11-01-2009 11:06 AM

I hope your hubby doesn't have to go work 2 hours away! That would stress me out a lot too. My DH is in the military and is sometimes hard to get in touch with, so I'm hoping I go into labor at night or early in the morning again. The last two times my midwife made it to my house 15 minutes and then 20 minutes before the baby was born, my labors are only about 2 hours long.

MeganBeth 11-01-2009 07:25 PM

My last labor was 23 hrs I'm kinda hoping it won't be as long this time!! I saw you're in W.Wa too!! Mind if I ask who your MW is? I'm seeing Nancy Spencer at the Lakeside Birth Center and I <3 <3 her!

kestrel 11-01-2009 07:53 PM

I'm using P. Thurston, a homebirth midwife in Kitsap County (just across the Puget Sound from Seattle). She attended my last two births. :)

MeganBeth 11-01-2009 09:26 PM

Ouh you're a little further north than me then  We're down in the 'claw ...aka podunk ville :D

Tiffrutherf 11-03-2009 03:03 PM

Hay!! How is everyone out there? I'm just getting buy lately!! These last few weeks are a drain..baby has seriously his a growth spurt and I'm feeling every oz. of it. My DH just got his family leave he will be off from the Day I have the surgery until Jan. (I don't think we will need that much time but I'm grateful to have it). 14 more days..but it seems like a life time..how are you guys doing?
