Trying...

My husband & I have decided to start trying!!! I have been on this weight loss journey for a while, have gotten healthier & lost 22 lbs (& counting). I was wondering what you all do for exercise while you're pregnant. I'm very scared to have high blood pressure & all that garbage because I did when I was over 200 lbs. My goal that I would like to work with is walking 5 miles a day on the treadmill at the gym while pg. Is that realistic? I really need to be careful how much I gain, so I was wondering what you all do.

Thanks!

i walk *almost* every day. time has been something hard to come by around here lately! although i am trying harder to make the time. i try to walk about 4 miles a day, but mine is split 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. i also just ordered 2 dvd's off of amazon that are pregnancy workouts. both have great reviews and i am very excited to get them! i should get them this week and after i try them i will post about them.

The basic rule of thumb is that you can do anything during pregnancy that you could comfortably do before pregnancy. I have a cousin who's 6 mos. pg and she still runs several miles per day. It is, of course, NOT the time to start a new workout routine. And, you have to be careful of some stomach exercises and when you get further along you can't do much laying on your back. I would talk to my Dr and get the go-ahead for whatever you want to do, it's never a bad idea to clear it with your MD.
