December Preggos!

Hey gals! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. My level 2/gender ultrasound is on Wednesday and today seems to be going by sooooo slow. I'm sure tomorrow will be even worse!

Jayme31 12-01-2008 09:20 PM

I will be 31 wks pregnant by this friday and i have another u/s tommorrow and i cant wait for it to get here either,,, so disapointed when they scheduled me for the late afternoon,,, as i am sure the whole day will feel like forever:(

Expecting to have my daughter the last week of January by scheduled c-section!!! Hoping the time between now and then goes quickly.

zeffryn 12-03-2008 12:10 PM

35 weeks now, Friday will ring in 36 weeks.

The nursery isn't set up yet!! I was hoping that DH and I would be able to do it this weekend, but he's taking his LSAT on Saturday and we always have lunch at his parents on Sunday.

Maybe some night this week...it is getting too close!

I've had some bad experiences with babies in the past week. Thanksgiving eve, my friend had her baby whose liver was growing outside of the body - when the surgeons were packing everything back in, they kinked the intestine causing internal bleeding and she passed away just a few hours later. Last night, my cousin who was 22 wks pregnant with twins had her water break. She had to deliver the babies and their lungs were just too underdeveloped and they were unable to save them.

It truly is scary!

modkittn 12-03-2008 02:34 PM

Well I had my level 2 scan today and it is a very healthy baby girl!

zeffryn those stories are so sad :(

I just found this site. I'm 6 weeks pregnant yesterday. I'm having a hard time eating, nothing sounds good. i'm hoping to lose weight in the pregnancy not by dieting but just not by overeating. my sister in law gained 75 pounds while pregnant. i haven't had any morning sickness just no real desire to eat. any advice?

You should really discuss this with your doctor. It is extremely rare for a doctor to recommend losing weight during pregnancy, and even if a woman is overweight the doctors will usually recommend gaining a smaller amount of weight than the normal recommended amount. Trying to lose weight while pregnant can effect the development of your baby.

Jayme31 12-04-2008 09:14 AM

Depends on your size and your doctor....i was told by my doctor that she would be happy if i lost some weight instead of gaining any...

I am also over 300+ pounds, so this is why...At 31 wks, i am up 1.8 pounds now...baby is active, completely healthy and the pregnancy has been normal so far. I`ve lost and gained a few pounds back/forth and when i gain the doctor isnt too happy..

Its normal for overweight ppl to not gain as much, if any weight and still have a normal healthy pregnancy..

Its been easier for me to eat better and excercise knowing that the little life inside me depends on it.

I gained 40+ pounds with my first born over 9years ago!! every pregnancy is different. Whats most important is to eat enough and eat healthy things!

It is hard to give general advice to people without knowing their stats (she didn't post her height and weight) so I opted for the general case :) I'm surprised your doc gets mad when you gain any weight, even 2 pounds?!

Hi ladies...I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I ate way too much and was way to lazy, but what can I say. Blood pressure has been creeping up on me and so they are adjusting my meds again. I am measuring 3 weeks bigger and this baby is in my ribs - other than that not much going on here. Just trying to get things ready for the holiday. I am hoping that will make things go by much quicker.

modkittn - congrats on your baby girl...how exciting! You are going to have so much fun picking out all the fun girly stuff. We have another ultrasound scheduled for the 15th, but Joe won't let me go by myself - he is afraid that I will find out what this baby is and he really wants it to be a surprise. I don't think at this stage I want to know either. I have waited this long what is 7 more weeks.

zeffryn - I am so sorry to hear about the babies, that is so sad. Your family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine losing a child. That would have to be the worst thing in the world. Don't feel too bad - we don't have hardly anything ready for this baby either. My "baby" is 8 so baby stuff in this house is long gone. We are slowly gathering our stuff, but I really need to get on the ball. 36 weeks...I am so jealous. :p

jayme31 - looks like we will be having our babies about the same time - I am due Jan 28th, but my son was 10 days early and my daughter 7 days early, so I am hoping to shave at least a week off. It sure seems like there is a baby boom on girls right now. Everyone I know has either had a girl or is having a girl.

bittersweetbabe - congrats and welcome. I felt that exact same way for about the first 14 weeks, but I had the pukies too. It will pass, just hang in there and stay hydrated. Soon the cravings will start and you won't be able to pass up food. ;)

Everyone take care and I will be back sooner this time...I promise!

DH is taking his LSAT this morning. I sometimes wonder if he's ever going to be done with school. He graduates on the 20th with a PhD in pure mathematics.

About a year ago, his father offered to pay for law school and pay for our family's expenses during law school if he would take over his (very successful) practice when he graduates. It seemed like much too good an offer to pass up. DH is still interested in teaching math and is in the process of writing homeschooling curriculums for higher math education.

I just don't know how happy I am about him starting school back over - having homework again (he hasn't had homework other than grading in almost two years) and late study nights.

Ah well, this too shall be over before I know it.

I told DH that I was done having babies after this one until he was absolutely done with school! :)

Baby is very active today - kept me up last night. He is so low that it is hard to walk at times!

pixiefalls 12-08-2008 04:15 PM

I have my second ultrasound on the 19th (gender). Very excited about that one! They definitely won't have a problem seeing as for size.. I'll be 23wks;). They didn't want me to go until I was a least 22 *shurgs*. Started feeling kicks about a week ago:D.

zeffrin - It's very sad about the babies.. I'm sorry to hear that

zeffryn 12-08-2008 07:15 PM

Pixie - it's possible to see as early as 16-17 weeks, but most places won't do it until later to ensure that it will be possible to see. No sense in doing it twice, ya know?

I begged my doctor to do one at 17 weeks so I could tell my parents when we visited....it took a lot of begging and convincing ;)

Congrats on feeling the first kicks - they are so wonderful. Is this your first? I felt them quite late with DS1 but with this one, I felt them around 14-15 weeks. Maybe I just knew what I was looking for?
-
DH feels he did well on the LSAT - that type of test is right up his alley. Considering he only missed two questions total on his GRE, I would be surprised if he did poorly. Unfortunately we won't know for sure for three weeks.

pixiefalls 12-09-2008 07:54 PM

Mmm true. That's why I'm glad I'll be 23wks though I really wanted to do it earlier than that but it's okay.. I can wait 10 more days! haha.

Yes this is my first. I wasn't sure what to look for with the kicking but I can definetly feel them now. :) My doctor told me a few women have came to her around 30wks pregnant and they didn't even know they had concieved. They had irregular periods all their life. That would be crazy to find out so late in the pregnancy for me:lol:.

modkittn- Congrats on a girl! Everyone keeps telling me I'm having a girl. *shrugs* We'll see! ;)

modkittn 12-11-2008 09:27 AM

Hey ladies! So Tuesday morning I woke up with the worst charlie horse I have ever had in my right calf. I'm still limping today from it, and it is still swollen and sore. A couple of people mentioned my potassium may be low, but I eat a banana every day. If my leg still hurts tomorrow I'm going to call the doctor. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Just curious.

Altari 12-11-2008 10:14 AM

modkittn I used to get the worst calf cramps of my life. My routine to get them to go away was
1. Walk barefoot on a cold, tile floor to the fridge
2. Cry a lot
3. Eat a banana (potassium's supposed to help)
4. Drink a glass of milk (calcium's supposed to help)
5. Cry for a while
6. Gently flex my foot
7. Cry some more
8. Pray

Then, I wizened up and put an icy hot patch on each calf every night before bed. :)

-----------

My morning sickness has [mostly] subsided. We went through 3 rounds of the stomach flu as a family, and combined with the morning sickness, it was just...arg...barely ate for weeks. So now my appetite is back with a vengeance, yet I'm at that "don't look pregnant, just look fat" stage of showing.

We went out and bought a minivan last night. The 3 kiddos we already have are loving it, and there's enough room for #4. I already miss my little car.

zeffryn 12-11-2008 02:35 PM

Mod - it is especially easy to get charlie horses and other cramps during pregnancy. Have you tried a potassium supplement - your banana may be getting used up too quickly. When I start to feel crampy - which is most often after a jog (yes, I still get my big butt moving...albeit slowly) I eat a banana immediately and the pain subsides quickly.

Altari - I love your avatar. That is my DS' favorite part of that show.

Ugh, frick. I'm feeling big as ****. My ticker is wrong, it should actually be saying 37 weeks. My section is scheduled for Dec. 29.

I can't stop thinking about how much we have to do still. I wrapped gifts today and found that my b-complex pills really help with my moods and with my fatigue. It is nice to be able to get through the day with only 1 half hour nap. ;)

Off to make some cookie dough and let it chill...

modkittn 12-12-2008 08:59 AM

Good morning ladies! I am 20 weeks today (for some reason my ticker is off by a day). I can't believe it is almost half way over!!! I am actually sad about that :( I can feel little Phoebe moving around a lot lately. At times, I know I must have a weird look on my face because it actually startles me :)
My weight gain is still at 21 pounds. I'm shooting for 35, still in the healthy range.
I've been having more strange dreams lately, but last night's involved the baby, taking care of her, forgetting things (like where I put her down?!). I kept waking up all through the night. I didn't get a good sleep at all!
Last night DH and I went out and bought her coming home outfit. It is so cute - I should take a picture and post!

Jayme31 12-12-2008 02:03 PM

32 weeks for me as of today!!! My c-section is scheduled now for Jan 29th!!! I can`t believe how quick time is flying...and it will only go faster now that school is almost out for my son and the holidays are right around the corner.

I feel overwhelmed by what we stil have left to do,, christmas shopping, baby shopping, preparing the room ...the list goes on and on and i can`t get my dear husband motivated to help get things going, ugh!!

zeffryn 12-12-2008 10:44 PM

Jayme, I feel your pain on not having a motivated husband. I finally got my DH to get things done today by threatening to give his golf clubs away on freecycle. ;)

ok, I wouldn't really have done it...but pregnancy hormones are crazy and he knows it!

17 days left. Oh my. My section is scheduled for Dec. 29. I can't believe things are going so fast!

had an OB appt. today - BP good, weight is 17 lbs. total gained, everything else good. Had a cervix culture, man those are so uncomfortable. I forgot!

I have another ultrasound next Friday. I'm not sure why I've had so many - there aren't any complications with me or the baby. Doc said he wants to check size and position.

krislvzep23 12-14-2008 04:01 PM

Hello ladies! I just found out I am 5 weeks along with my first child. Can I still excerise? I know this sounds terrible..but I'm afraid I'm going to gain back all of the weight I've lost.

zeffryn 12-14-2008 04:33 PM

Kris - sure, you can still exercise. I've exercised my entire pregnancy. I ran until I was about 25 weeks, now I just kind of jog/walk. It helps to keep you limber.

Remember that you gain weight when you're pregnant because the baby gains weight. Please don't try not to gain or even lose weight while your pregnant unless your doctor specifically tells you to do so.

Altari 12-15-2008 10:55 AM

I have my 4 month OB appt tomorrow. Am I 4 months? LoL. NO ONE KNOWS ANYMORE! They can't even figure out my due date. Hopefully all the questions will be resolved tomorrow.

kris, you should definitely continue to exercise. I played DDR the entire way through my second pregnancy, and felt amazing for it. Keeping up with exercise routines will help ensure that you don't gain too much extra weight, and will keep you in good physical shape for giving birth.

zeff and jayme, why are you having sections? (just curious, they scare the life out of me)

mod, I have those dreams all the time (even with the kiddos born). I sometimes dream that I'm going into a store, and forget them in the car...then forget where I parked it. When I "knew" I was pregnant (but didn't officially know yet), I had a dream that I woke up with a litter of puppies on my bed, and that I couldn't feed them all fast enough. It was kind of like those electronic pet games where they just evaporate if you don't keep up with care and feeding.

zeffryn 12-18-2008 09:59 AM

Altari - I had to have an emergency c-section with DS1. I was planning to have a vbac with this one, until my doctor saw my scar and said what a crap job surgeon #1 did with it. There was too much scar tissue and the risk of it tearing during labor was quite high. I guess I valued mine and my baby's life more than having a vbac.

Believe me. I wouldn't be having an elective c-section if I had another choice. They freak me out too.

Jayme31 12-23-2008 01:34 PM

Altari: I am having a repeat c-section as well,, the first time around for me was 10years ago and altough its been so long and the risks are low,, the doctor said she prefers a repeat section b/c with DS i didnt start labour and after 3 attemps at an induction failed, they felt like the baby couldnt come thru the birth canal and deemed that any future babies would have the same issue.

It scares me too!! i am already nervous as heck and have a month to go! i always worry about the scar and since i am overweight,, its in a skin fold and it can get infected more easily:(

but,,, whatevers best for me and the baby.....is what we will do.

ZEFFRYN: wow your days are numbered now,, keep us posted on how things go!!! we are delivering exactly a month apart,, my section is booked for jan 29th! i hope i can make it til then though:)

zeffryn 12-23-2008 02:56 PM

hey guys.

so...I'm sitting here in tears because our landlord decided that this week was the week that he was going to rip out the flooring and toilet in our downstairs bathroom AND replace some of the tiles in the kitchen. I JUST cleaned the entire house over the weekend and we were working diligently to keep it tidy in case baby came and we had to leave. Landlord has known for two months that this needed to be done (well, actually a LOT longer but we just started bringing it up when we moved in) and he chooses the week of Christmas?! Arse. He ripped out the tile today and found out that the subfloor was wet in the bathroom -duh- no grout around the tiles and I could have picked the tiles up with my finger. There are fans running in the bathroom now, he said he may be able to tile it tonight if the subfloor is dry and grout it tomorrow - that would be great, although I doubt that he is that motivated. He is perhaps the laziest man I have ever met and puts EVERYTHING off until the last minute. DH responded to all of this chaos with a "she is due any day now and if it isn't done by the time the baby is born, we're going to live in one of your vacant houses rent free and hire a contractor to finish our place"...I think it scared the landlord a bit. The landlord had originally been saying "well, you have two bathrooms so one being out of commission isn't a big deal..." well...that would work, except for the fact that I'm having major surgery and won't be able to walk up the stairs to use the second bathroom for at least a week. What am I supposed to do? Use a bedpan?

frick.

This aside, I'm having some very uncomfortable cramping and contractions today...let's hope that the baby can hold out for at least another day or two. I don't want to have to worry about this tile situation while I'm in the hospital.

pixiefalls 12-25-2008 09:16 PM

Zeffryn - I'm sorry to hear that. Our last landlord sounds JUST like that. Agh accept ours never came around to fixing anything. We've since moved and the new landlords never like to answer when we call.. ever. Luckily this is a new place and everything seems to be in top shape.. *shrugs*.

I had my doctor's appointment and ultrasound on the 19th. The doctor wanted to schedule me for a 25wk ultrasound but didn't know I was going in for one on that day. So.. that is on hold. (They wanted to do it because they said they couldn't see much on the first ultrasound.) Well baby is doing good. They couldn't see that well on the second ultrasound though. Baby was also being stubborn and wouldn't move it's legs for the entire hour we were doing the ultrasound so I still don't know if baby is a girl or a boy. Also, they are still holding my original due date of April 4th even though the first ultrasound showed me to be about a day shy of two weeks behind. *shrugs* I have my next doctor's appointment on the 13th of January so I'm sure they will re-schedule an ultrasound then. *hopes*

zeffryn 12-26-2008 09:53 PM

Pixie - Apparently our landlord is the type that only does something when we bug him about it all the time. It's annoying but I think DH has finally figured out how to handle him.

He's in tonight trying to finish the tile in the bathroom..well, he already finished them but when trying to connect the toilet - he found out that the tube that had connected it before was no longer long enough. Back to the hardware store tomorrow morning for another entire day of being a frickin' slacker. I'm so tired of having to walk upstairs every time I have to pee. I've been up there like 9 times in the past hour....it is especially bad during the night!

I just want to clean my bathroom floor...he has three tiles to grout in the bathroom still...why he didn't grout it while he did the rest of the floor is beyond me. He said that he needed a different color of grout because it was a wall tile and not a floor tile....you would think one would anticipate that before buying supplies. I guess not this guy.

He is coming back in a few minutes to grout the kitchen tile. He said that he wanted to work on it just before we went to bed...well, dude, I'm about to head to bed! He was like...wow, ya'll go to sleep early! Duh...I'm 9 months pregnant and have had to haul my *** up the stairs every 5 minutes...what else do you think is going to happen?!

I could kill him. Really. I wonder if pregnancy could be used as an insanity plea... ;)

I just hope he is done by Sunday. I would really like to clean my bathroom floor before I have to go in for my section on Monday morning. I don't want to come home to a messy bathroom and I don't want to have to have DH do it while I'm in the hospital, although he would do it if it wasn't done by Sunday evening. Bless his cute little heart. :)
