October - Nursing Mommies
I think we need a new thread!
Welcome to the new mommies joining us - from England and Hawaii were the last 2 I saw. I maintained in Sept, so I guess that's something, though I really wanted to lose 4 or 5. Baby is doing great and my milk supply seems to have evened out. I can't believe she'll be 4 months the 18th! For October, I am getting religious about recording every bite and maintaining the other good habits I started this past year. What're your goals for October? Kim |
okay my first goal is to aim to weigh not more than 185lbs by Halloween (although if I could get down to 182lbs that would be wonderful [that would take me to an even 13 stone in UK weights you see] but I'm not counting on that. So 185lbs is my goal really).
My little boy is 8 weeks old today. This past 8 weeks has gone by soooooooooo fast! |
okay I just weighed myself - I appear to be 184lbs lol - serves me right for not weighing in a month.
Okay new goal - to weigh 180lbs by Halloween :) |
Hi! I'm Meredith. I've actually been on this forum 4 times now! Pregnant with my first, nursing my first, pregnant with my second and now nursing my second. I always get depressed while pregnant because I end up with pre-term labor and on bedrest. Looking at these threads makes me feel down when I can't be healthy. Now I'm back and will be here for quite a while!
My son, Brody, is 9 weeks old. I weighed in at 205 the day he was born and now I'm down to 174! It helps that I am nursing and apparently making cream instead of milk as my little monster is a whopping 15 pounds 10 ounces. I just started exercising again last week, very slowly. After about 6 months of restricted activity, my body was pretty out of it. I am just doing 20 minutes on the treadmill every other day. Quite honestly, with a 2.5 year old and 2 month old, that is about all the time I get anyway! My goal is to be down to my pre-pregnancy weight by Christmas, about 4.5 months post-partum. That is 15 pounds to go. I have an additional 20 to lose and would like to do that over the following 6 months. I just really want to be able to wear my old clothes ASAP. I have bought a few things in this bigger size and I can't wait to sell them. :p I haven't done much for diet yet. I'm trying to cut out dessert. I realized that I got in the habit of having something sweet after every meal, even breakfast. Cutting out a cinnamin bagel bite in the morning, a cookie after lunch, and an ice cream treat after dinner has definately shaved off that magic 250 calories a day that has helped with my 1 pound a week weightloss. I guess enough about me! I can't wait to get to know everyone. I teach breastfeeding class at our hospital and I am very passionate about it. It is always nice to meet another group of nursing moms. I also sell real estate full-time and I'm opening a meal prep business with my mother in December. Life is busy and my diet and exercise often take a back seat, especially to my family. Hopefully the support here can keep me motivated. |
Xena - how exciting to get down so much and not even know it! You rock! Congrats on your boy.
Meredith - Congrats on your son too! Bedrest must be awful. My daughter's name is Kate too! DD will be 4 months this week. I can't believe how fast it's going. My weight loss has really stalled, so I am re-committed this week to my eating plan and to get the loss going again - without jeopardizing my milk supply. I really dislike pumping at work, but it's only 3 days a week since I telecommute 2 days now, so I can do it for Kate. I had a ton of bloodwork done this morning, so hopefully we will see if there's any metabolism issues. I expect it's more mouth issues - too much going in! :-) Kim |
hello I'm back.
Doing calorie counting. I was on bedrest/restricted activity, too, which was a bummer for a mountain-climbing, treadmill-running, step-class-monster like me! THe only thing that kept me going was my lil' baby girl inside. :D I weighed this morning and was 184, then this afternoon and was 181.4. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it the breastmilk? |
Helloooooo.....????
|
I'm still around too. Not doing much in the weight department, but still nursing. I've been having back problems, so my exercise is limited to stretches. My son is 7 months old today, so I'm happy he's still nursing! My goal is 1 year and can't believe I just have 5 months to go. :)

I'm here. Just been stagnant the past 2 months, hovering around 199 + or - 3 lbs. Ugh. My knees are bothering me this weekend. Wish I could get re-motivated to stick on the plan!
Baby girl is 4 months now and still 75th percentile height/weight and 98+ for head size. So the breastmilk is working for her! Having to supplement some, because I am so tired I don't pump as much as I should. Kim |
momtomollie, that is how I am too. On weight day, I weigh twice and take the average. Between milk, food, constipation, and lord knows what else, I vary by 5 pounds in any given day.
I'm sitting at 172 and feeling happy about it. I'd love to be below 170 by next week, but I just can't get the exercise time in. I will get to it eventually. The weather has stayed nice, so I'm sneaking in a few extra steps a day while at work. Walking errands instead of driving. I work downtown close to everything so I'm within three blocks of the three banks we use, the post office, even the chiropractor's office. I'm still wearing a pedometer and need to get back into the 10,000 steps a day. I'm averaging around 6,000. :( Hope everyone has a great week! |
