I am 25 weeks pregnant and have gained 5 pounds throughout this pregnancy, I gat my gastric band last year and it really is concerning me if my baby is eating enough. If anyone has experience with wls I would appreciate some reassurance really. Thanks!
First off a big congrats to you.
I don't have experience with gastric bypass but when I was pregnant with #2 I had a medial condition similar to morning sickness but 10 times worse where often I couldn't eat or drink (it lasted 7 months) and it was a big bummer.
I wanted to reassure you that even with my condition and loosing 10 lbs in the first trimester I was reassured that the BABY would get all the nutrients that it needs. The big deal is how bad it made ME feel.
That said it is of course best to eat as many good high quality foods as possible take a prenatal if you can and talk to your doctor. It must be frustrating to be pregnant and not be able to eat. I understand this but for different reasons. I do think your baby will be ok but you also have to make sure to take care of your own health. Take care and congratulations again.
23 Weeks Pregnant With Gastric Band
Hello, I am 23 weeks pregnant and have the Gastric Band also. I have gained 20 pounds!!! I had most of my fill taken out, because I could not get anything down and my OB was concerned. I have 1cc in now and I am just now to start getting "stuck" again. I know on a website I read, a normal weight person should have gained 15 pounds by now, so I do not know if 5 pounds is good or bad. My OB knows I have the band, and always asks about my eating, to make sure I am eating enough. Not much help, sorry. It is nice to know of someone else pregnant with the band!!

This is something that you need to discuss with your physician, and SOON. The physician may want you to have your band adjusted so that the baby can get more nutrients. Also, he/she should be able to tell by ultrasound size estimation, etc. if the baby is too small. Speak with your physician, this is something only they can help you with.
