Injections?
My doctor wants to start me on injection to "shut down" my ovaries, have any of you ever had this? (I have endometriosis as well, by the way). If you have, what were your experiences with it?

Sorry i haven't heard of it, good luck, if it makes you uncomfortable get a second or third opinion. You should be able to find a good amount of info online..i would think.

While the time on the shots really sucked for her, in the end she felt it was worth it. Her endometriosis was so bad she was in considerable pain all the time. She also had ovarian cysts. When the shots were over and the endometriosis gone she felt so much better. |
If you are talking about Lupron - I did a series to shrink a large fibroid tumor. I basically went in to menopause with it. Hot flashes, night sweats, etc. I did ok with it, but they sure hurt! One thing I found out later was that I should have asked for a bone density test before hand. This series is supposed to be bone depleting in some people.
I have read some negative things about the shots, and people that swear they had terrible health problems since taking it. There is no proof that it was the medication that caused the problems, but it is something to look in to. If this is the medication, try and Google Lupron Side Effects and see what you come up with. |
Ahh yes, Lupron is what my friend was being treated with. That name rings a bell.

I agree with Jennifer!
It was bad while on Lupron! I used to wake up at night sweating like nothing else and the next minute I was freezing cold. I also because psycho biotch ;)... I wasn't myself at all... I didn't have endometriosis though but another hormonal problem. FOr me it was worth it as a few months later I got pregnant and had my twins. GL to you!!! ChocoX |
I have severe endo and had my last surgury in June 2006. My doctor is so against Lupron or any of the other injections out there that doctors are giving us fellow endo victims. They stay in your system for up to a year after last injection. So if you don't like them you still have side effects of them after you quit them.
I did have some success with my last surgury. No after affects like my previous ones. I'm hoping they stay gone for at least a little while. Anyone wanting to talk about endo feel free to contact me. I've been through alot with it and have a really great dr. who provides me with alot of info. |
