Sept 2014 PCOS Support Thread
Here is the old August 2014 Thread.
Tell us how you're doing: - How's the PCOS? - How are you? - What are you working on now? - How successful are you? A. |
How's the PCOS?
I am not sure. I have had some regain, and crazy perimenopuase fun -- hot flushes, headache, joint pain, etc. I have endoc appt coming up. I saw my GP for a yeast infection and she told me to mention hormone therapy to endoc because I am so wonky with the hot flushes. I cannot sleep well like that and I feel moody and WEIRD. Ugh. How are you? In general ok I guess. Struggling with eldercare. My Azheimer parent had a cow and we are recovering from the latest. Exhausting. What are you working on now? Cleaning my kitchen, restocking groceries, making some meals ahead. How successful are you? I will check in once I get the food prep done. :) A. |
- How's the PCOS? --- I've recently been told I am no longer insulin resistant. But in the same appt I was told if I wanted to lose weight I could and PCOS shouldn't make a difference. .... Gotta love living in small rural area with very few doctors to choose from.
- How are you? -- I had a bit of a wake up call and really am focued on getting my butt up and moving. I've also been "fall cleaning" the house so I can paint. - What are you working on now? -- I've been jumping on the trampoline with the kids, cleaning like crazy, walking, and plan to start bike riding. I also would like to pull out the Tae Bo videos. - How successful are you? -- I just started this week, so far I still feel confident about doing this. I lost 30 pounds last year while on Metformin but once I was taken off it, all the weight came right back. |

How's the PCOS?
Ugh. I need to tell you that I wish I could go back to when I was a teenager and thought the only bad thing about random periods was not knowing when they were coming, and that every 8-10 months I would have one period that was worse than the others. Now that I know this was because of PCOS, and because I don't ovulate regularly (so the pain, bloating, hormones etc aren't so bad most times) I hate hate hate it. PCOS makes me angry and resentful, especially since we have been trying to get pregnant. How are you? Angry, apparently  . I feel good about my goals and the direction I am focused right now. I am confident that with just a little weight loss I will at least have more regular periods. The ovulation part will be addressed at the end of October when I see the OBGYN specialist, i suppose. But I feel good about the fact that at least there is a little something I can do. Now if only the PCOS wouldn't make the weight loss process so much harder than it already is! What are you working on now? At home we're all working on clean, healthy eating and making use of our family time to get out and *do* something. My work-life is in a bit of an uproar as I recently started a new position with significantly more responsibility, but the added benefit of a regular schedule. I'm hopeful that as things settle in we will all enjoy a more regulated routine for all things - meals, family time, and time to do our own things. How successful are you? It's only been a week of dedication, so I'm not sure I can really answer that in qualitative terms, but I'm feeling very successful! So, that's something. |
Sorry i wasn't around like I hoped, guys. My Dad had a cow and that took up most of my attention. He's stable again, so hopefully this window will be a bit longer.
Apyl -- good progress on getting the IR under management! How's it been? Bardess -- I'm so sorry you also have an Alz parent. It's a challenge for sure. Are you holding up ok with your caregiver role? How's work? I'm going to check in under the October thread.... so everyone come on over! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/pcos...rt-thread.html A. |
