Question regarding Fasting Insulin testing

Does anyome here know what a Normal fasting insulin is, and what an ABnormal fastin Insulin level is?

I will post more questions after I hear the results;)

I was told by an RE that my fastin insulin was elevated, but when I got the results( From my RE ) to take with me to my GP for treatment of Insulin resistance, I am not so sure I am IR? I would like to hear what some have to say, before I post my results.
Can anyone help with this:?:

My doctor liked it around 10 and he said 15 was slightly elevated. Mine was originally 120 and it took 2000 mgs of glucophage to make it normal. Good Luck

Is 10-15 for Fasting Insulin? I was thinking I was 113 last time I went and my endo told me I was only slightly IR after taking the Gluc for a while. Maybe I am thinking of another test. They did so many!

Ok, I looked this up because I was confused. Yep, I was wrong. This link says that over 15 is considered IR. I must have been looking at blood glucose for my 113. Autumn, do you think your 120 could have also been for glucose? I found this info here:
http://www.wdxcyber.com/ngen10.htm

They have some good information. They say:

"Treatment is based on improving glucose control and preventing complications, especially cardiovascular disease. Diet is a mainstay of treatment along with exercise and weight loss. A low calorie diet reduces insulin resistance in days even before much weight loss takes place. Ten to twenty pounds (5-10 kg) substantially helps glycemic control and a loss of 16% of body weight improves glucose metabolism by a 100%."

Thank U Ladies. I was confised abt my fasting level but my GP set me straight today.

My initial draw for the test was a 19, and after the eating and waiting for 2 hrs it was a 65. I saw the 19 and according to the lab, and there level normal the range is 8.0 to 21.7. So when I saw 19, I was like Hmm, I am, NOT IR, but when I took all my lab work today with me, my GP corrected me, and showed me that my fasting level was elevated .

Everything I see on the net is exactly what u posted Jennifer, regarding the the ranges for IR.

I think I am babbling and not making much sence:dizzy:
