metformin question
 

Would someone mind sharing with me what the advantages are of taking metformin? I know that it is suppose to effect insulin, but I'd like to know more. Thanks

Caperman, along with the primary benefit for metformin of helping the body become more sensative to the insulin it produces (therefore helping the body to decrease its insulin output) Studies also indicate that it has the effect of decreasing testosterone in the body, which can help in controlling acne, hirsutism, hair loss, and skin tags. It is also beneficial in aiding with conception as well as helping prevent miscarriages once u are pregnant. Metformin also helps in curbing weight gain, but this seems to be a direct result of getting insulin levels under control.

Thanks Sweeterthenmost for the info. I knew about the benefit re insulin, but didn't realize that it could also help with the other things.
