Don't know what to do anymore

I've had pcos since my teens. I use to get my period every 2 months. But since 2010 I've been getting my period once or twice a year only. And when I get it, it is heavy with large clots(sorry tmi) and I usually have to take ibruphen to stop it otherwise my period will go on for weeks. I had enough.

I've tried bcp but I am at risk of blood clots while on bcp. Don't want to take chances. Metformin didn't do anything for except make me sick. Even when I watch what I'm eating I still don't lose any weight.

I only have 1 ovary because I had my right ovary removed in 2010 due to Demmroid cyst.

At this point I'm fed up . I feel like getting my left ovary taken out just so I don't have to deal with this madness anymore. I'm getting fatter and fatter and hairer. I got Facial hair going crazy.

I would like to have kids in the future but with my situation I don't know if I'll ever have them.

I'm sorry that this happening to you.

I'm sure you've been to a million ob/gyn visits and been poked and prodded everywhere. Is there a such thing as a PCOS specialist? Someone who only deals with PCOS cases? Or is there a weight loss specialist who deals with PCOS cases?

I hope this gets better for you soon.

Hi there,

At my worst, I had a couple periods that went on for a month. The doctor just gave me Provera to stop it and restart it. Basically, she said it wasn't a true period and my lining was building up and collapsing. (but, I guess, not truly shedding itself) It was a horrible time for me. Provera made me so hormonal! (sad, angry, etc.)

I'm new to these boards, so I don't know what you have tried. I think low carb eating helps and any exercise helps... (I mean with your cycles--weight loss is a harder ball game.)

I too am a Metformin drop out :) And facial hair drives me batty. I think it grows in spurts. One day, it's not too bad and the next time I look--OMG! Where's my wax strips!!!!

I would find myself a reproductive endocrinologist and read as much as I can on PCOS.

At the end of the day, it's going to be an approach that's unique to what works for you that works -- so you'll probably have to do a lot of "testing" and trying stuff out and seeing how it works.

Are you eating low-carb?
