PCOS and Magnesium

  • Cool PubMed article on insulin resistance and magnesium: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15319146

I need to start taking my magnesium supplement again before bed. Also, I haven't been eating any good natural sources of magnesium, which I will start doing:

    1. cocoa powder (highest amount per gram of any food! T.G.I. Chocolate!)
    2. molasses
    3. edamame (unprocessed soy = okay)
    4. flaxseeds, brazil nuts, mixed nuts, tahini
    5. sunflower seeds

I should come up with a magnesium 'bomb' recipe... like molasses nut flour 'muffins' or something
  • Hmmm.... cocoa and molasses covered nuts?

I take a flaxseed oil supplement, so I don't think I'm getting any Magnesium there, but I just checked my chia seeds, and 1 tbsp seeds has 10% of the Daily Value. So not a gigantic amount, but at least something.

Oooh! I just had a thought. I eat chia seeds in greek yogurt for breakfast. I bet I could add some cocoa powder and a touch of sugar to make a greek chocolate pudding type thing. I might try that tomorrow!
  • What I was just saying in this post! Gonna get some magnesium for the hubby, too.
