Thanks.

I'm planning a frittata for lunch and then meeting DH at Chipotle for dinner before choir so I can get a salad bowl there and keep away from wheat.

Just... ugh. My HEAD.

I'm sorry.

There's tons of other starches that you can eat in the meantime, if you think your headaches are related to lower carb option.

Bake plaintains or fried up some cassava root. There's also corn!

astrophe 01-09-2013 03:11 PM

I'm not sure what it is -- I've been ok with rice, and if I feel like I need more carb at dinner I can easily do brown rice there. Had the eggs at lunch with a corn tortilla.

Funny you say that -- I have plantain in the fridge for tomorrow. :)

I think it is just bite the shield and bear it -- perhaps it is a low pressure system? I haven't looked at weather.

In any event, I'm hanging in there...

Way to go Astrophe! Keep up the good work!

I don't have the exact numbers from my labs. I'll have to start getting copies from my doctor.

I'm trying to eat a low carb diet, and it is working ok so far. I feel a lot less bloated.

Trying to conceive

I am now heading into month 4 of trying to conceive with the help of fertility doctor. I'm getting rather discouraged given the four months and no results. I wonder how many other people out there have had fertility help and have not conceived for this long I realize that it could take some time but how long and how much more money is it going to take before I actually have hope of getting pregnant. I am open to all suggestions of how to help with the weight loss or anything else that could help me in this matter.

Thanks Ladies!!!!

PrettyMom09: Thanks for the encouragement! Glad to hear your bloating is easing up. Hang in there with it!

CassieJo:

What are you doing for fertility?

I took 2000 Glucophage XR for one year. I gave it that long to work. It did help bring my AWOL cycles to a more regular 60 day cycle and I did www.tcoyf.com book and software charting to help monitor when I ovulated.

On my year appt I went to ask for Clomid and got he prescription. And never filled it. I was pregnant when I was tested. ( Even non PCOS people can take a year to conceive.)

At the time I went vegetarian to reduce hormone load, and that helped. But if I were to do it again, I would go Paleo to reduce hormone load and cut down wheat and go with organic meats instead. For me budget wasn't too bad, but if it is a concern you have to do what you gotta. I def did take a prenatal vitamin.

http://www.fertilityplus.com/faq/lowtechfaq.html might help. There's various copies of it floating around.

4 months is very early -- I know it probably is hard to wait and you are excited and wanting things to get moving. But hang in there. You will get there. GL! Baby dust your way! :)

MY CHECK IN:

Headache is gone and I was able to work all day without afternoon slump but by the time 9 PM rolled around I crashed out. DH just woke me up to shower and I'm going back to bed.

Hunger cravings are still down. Still wheat free. 10 days down... on to the 11th!

Astrophe

Currently I am doing provera, folastim and metformin.

astrophe 01-14-2013 01:59 AM

Cassie Jo: Is there anything else you'd like to try? OPK sticks? Charting? Saliva ferning? Monitor cervix?

A.

CassieJo 01-14-2013 09:44 AM

No my doc has got me under close watch. I talk with her like 4 times a week. I just started checking my LH Friday. Have an ultrasound today to see if the folicules are making any progress. I want to try IuI this month.

corn tortilla is sooooo.. good!
I like my white rice 1 cup(200cal) black beans 1/2(90 cal) with stew tomatoes1/2 cup (33cal) mix together and then fried with no oil or butter in a nonstick pan. It is so good!

I have been sooooo sick, I finally feel alive today. I have missed all my exercise classes and have been eating whatever is fed to me, because I've been too tired to cook. Or for that matter, so sick that I can't taste anything but sweetness and saltiness.

astrophe 01-23-2013 12:33 AM

CassieJo: Hope things are chugging along then!

Fatness: That sounds tasty! Yum!

Rana: Hang in there! Hopefully you will be well soon. Being sick is a drag.

My Check In:

Busy with my volunteering and other work. Garden time is soon so I'm off putting that in. But mostly wheat free still and sticking to it. Formal exercise is on the back burner -- dragging compost around to fill beds... I have to put in peas and tomatoes and things. Harvested all the sweet potato and romaine is next up. Yay! :)

Hi All!

My hormones are out of whack this month and I don't know why. Maybe it's the way I'm eating. Maybe there's some celestial event affecting them.

I've been getting acne and it's not pre-period, when I have gotten acne before. I also suddenly lost a pound without any effort. And I've been emotional, which I am NEVER unless I'm having bad PMS, which I used to have when I was on BCP.

I'm also really stressed out, so I've scheduled a massage this weekend, which is an indulgence I never do... I may need to do this more often though!!!!

I'm new

Hi I literally just joined this site 5 seconds ago but I'm really looking for some help with my pcos. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago but the gyno I went to see (student health center) made it seem like it was no big deal so we didn't do anything for it...2 years later and hundreds of binge/hating myself episodes later we realize its more detrimental than we thought. I'm the complete opposite person of what I use to be and everyday I try getting back to my old self. I'll have a couple days where I can see the light but its always only been a matter of time till I'm right back where I started. I'm just now in the process of treating my pcos and will be starting metformin soon. Has anyone taken this drug? will it help my sugar cravings go away or will I be in a constant battle my entire life? I just want my life back. Thanks to anyone that wants to help. I have people who support me but no one understands what I'm going through. heck I don't even understand.:(

Rana 01-26-2013 03:53 PM

Hello! And Welcome!

If you give up sugar entirely, the cravings will go away. It's hard. But many of us have done it, some have been able to bring it back in small quantities, but the biggest hurdle is doing it and getting past the cravings.

Metformin may work on you or it may not, it depends on the person. If you eat too many carbohydrates (cakes, pasta, rice, cookies, pizza, etc.) you may feel sicker on it than if you reduce it. Some people do great on it and some people do not. It's an experiment!

Don't feel bad, there's a bunch of us here and tons of us out there (internet)

You're not alone!
