First post - just diagnosed
After asking my OBGYN and primary doctor for years if I could possibly have PCOS that were leading to facial hair and weight challenges - and getting told that there was no chance because I have never been obese, I finally got referred to an endrocrinologist about two months ago. Three rounds of blood tests later and the results are in. I have PCOS along with low b12, iron and d levels. My doctor is being fairly aggressive with it and prescribed 2,000mg Metformin, 50mg Spironolactone, and 3,000 mg b12 (plus wants me to add a multivitamin for the other deficiencies). I'm not really much of a pill taker. So, getting myself into the habit of taking all these meds on a daily basis is going to be a struggle. But, I'm glad that I finally know what is wrong and have a gameplan to try to get my body back under control.
A question to the group - any side effects that I should watch out for with these? Anything I should avoid eating while I'm on them? |
