For those of you who count calories and limit carbs do you mind sharing what a typical day of meal planning is like for you?
|
Sure!
Today's meals: Breakfast: Apple scrambled eggs (2 eggs, 1/3 apple, 1 T parmesan cheese, 1/2 T butter) Snack: 2/3 apple (leftover from breakfast) 2 T almond butter Lunch: Garbanzos sauteed in 1/2 T olive oil, onions, parsley, cumin, salt 1/2 cup brown rice 100 calories of dark chocolate (2 pieces from what I have) Snack: 1 Chobani Peach Yogurt Dinner: 1/2 cup brown rice 1 fried egg (I normally don't do eggs twice a day, but today it happened this way) 1/2 cup of green beans and carrots (steamed) Snack: 1 oz mixed nuts (no peanuts) Total: 1568 calories, 24.3 grams of Fiber, 163.6 grams of Carbohydrates, 60 of Protein, 82 grams of Fat. Today was higher carb than other days. But my percentages show that fat was my highest (45%). Except for the sugar in the yogurt and chocolate, no refined sugars or carbs. |
Quickie Check In:
Sooooo tired! But we seem to be on more stable footing with dad. So I'm going to try to regroup the rest of this week and get my house/groceries in order and try to get back to my own health needs. Thanks for the online support, guys. Y'all are sweet. :) A. |
So I went to the endocrinologist last week again.. He seems to think I either have a pitutary or adrenal tumor which is causing my PCOS. So this weekend, I had to do that dexamethasone supression test. I am not sure if it is the dexamethasone or that I got off BC, but I have put on 2lbs in 4 days :( That is inspite of a 1200 calorie diet and walking 4 miles per day.
I have been charting my temps every morning for the past month, and my temp has been between 96.8 - 97.2 for the past week which is way too low. I just feel so tired, depressed and gross. |
Nina, that actually seems like a perfectly normal pre-ovulatory temp range. Most of the TTC charts I've looked at (and I've looked at a LOT, pcos and otherwise) are anywhere between 96.0 and 97.7. My pre-ovulation temps are between 96.7-97.33, which is right where I want them to be.
Are you ovulating? You're post ovulation temps should be much higher (I usually O at 97.5 and then top out at 98.45). ******************* As for me, I seem to have leveled out at 142-144lbs. I would love to get below 140, but this seems to be my happy spot, mentally and physically. I'm doing well with my sugar, save for one little slip up. My favorite ice cream in the world finally started being sold in CO, so I may have had ice cream for dinner 2 nights this week. :o Rana, congrats on the size 8's! I think being able to fit into all of my 8's again (every. last. pair) is worth more to me at this point than the number on the scale! Astrophe- I'm glad that things are calming down. What a roller coaster. It's so important to take care of yourself in times like these, yet it's so easy to let it fall by the wayside. |
June,
It been about 40+ days since my last cycle and I have not ovulated yet. My temps have been zigzagging for a couple of weeks now and the doc said that it is normal to not ovulate for about 3 months after getting off BC. This is the first time I am charting my temp, so I am just being paranoid if I am doing it right or if my thermometer is broken. |
Good luck with the suppression test! If your temps have gone down to that level in the past week, it may be a good sign that you are about to ovulate! That pre-O estrogen surge can definitely lower your temps a bit. If you look at my charts over the past year I always bottom out before I ovulate, so who knows?

Nina... everything I read is that we PCOS women ovulate best the month right after we stop birth control pills. That was my case too. I think I might have ovulated this month (instead of getting my period yesterday) which would make it the first time I've ovulated since I stopped BCP in 2009. I know that month I also ovulated.
Jen... thanks! I am happy, but this morning I realized that clothing sizes have changed in the last 15-20 years! So, there's a dress I want to fit back into that's a size 10 and I thought that I could finally do it today and unfortunately, I have to lose another 3 inches off my waist for that to happen!!!!!!! :( grrrrrrr............. Your body may just be happy at 140-145 lbs. That's a good range for your height. I'd like to get that low and maintain myself and I'm an inch and half shorter than you. You never know, maybe a year from now your body will ready to go down another 5 or 10 lbs. astrophe... I'm glad things are settling down. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself too and not just only your dad. hugs. |
Rana,
I too used to ovulate everytime I went off BCP before. I would get the 7-day-painful period instead of the 3 day moderate bleeding, which is how I know that I ovulated. However, this time I was on Nuvaring, because my Obgyn pestered me to try it again saying it was safer. It just made my PCOS symptoms worse.. I have a lot more facial hair, acne, depressed and gained about 10lbs this past 2 months. I really think nuvaring aggravates my PCOS. |
hey girls i lost 3lbs tonight im so happy thats 16lbs lost since i started back at ww only 15lbs more until i meet my birthday goal which is the end of july :D

nina125: Mine zig zag all crazy... like it is takes a couple tries to actually get up to the classic "stair step." And I conceived my kid on Day 51 -- my cycles then were 60 something days. Just keep at it. Watch for saliva ferning -- that helped me a lot when I was TTC.

Astrophe,
I am not ttc. I am off BC right now because the doc wants to check my hormone & cortisol levels before officially diagnosing me with PCOS. He also suspects that I probably have never ovulated my entire life (since I hit puberty at 13 and went on bc at 14) and wants to make sure that I can ovulate when I am ready to have to kids. I am going to google saliva ferning... I am such a noob sometimes |
Nina125: I hope you get your tests back soon! Do you have to do more? Even if you don't want to TTC, if you are just trying to figure out ovulation time for dx tests and stuff, saliva ferning is a low tech method that could help find the O window. I could see mine with the naked eye -- ferns all over.
Rana and Ems -- WTG on the weight loss progress! Me? I cleaned the fridge. Been eating out a lot with the dad crazy but over the weekend I want to try to make some soup to freeze and get a better grip on the household. I did see my minister for pastoral care and trying to line up support and get dad checked out in case it is alzheimer like we think. A small regain back to square one, but that's ok. I hadn't made huge leaps forward and I still have 6 weeks til the next endoc appt. Just being LOWER than the last check up will do. So here I go again! A. |
Hello all. I hope you don't mind if I jump in here with you. I've been lurking for the past week, ever since I rejoined 3fc. I am a type 2 diabetic with PCOS. I was told almost 17 years ago that kids were not an option, and I believed. Well, I was blessed with a child, she was born early 2009. Today is a milestone - I haven't had a period since 2007 (so conceiving in 2008 was a shock!, and I don't count the post-natal bleeding), and today, for no reason, I GOT IT! Does anyone else have a similar experience? Have any of you gone for years, and then with no warning get your TOM?
I'd love to puzzle this out with someone. Thanks. |
