ttc/PROVERA/ CLOMID
 

OK, went to the infertility spec today. He gave me Provera for 5 days and then clomid 100mg. I am going on TWO vacations in May and am trying to time this just right. I have to go in for an ultrasound 11 days after I start my period and get IUI after the ovulation kit comes back positive. soooo,
1. How long after you took your last Provera did you get your period? Ive read 2-5, 7, or 10 days...!
2. How long after you finished Clomid did you ovulate?

Provera - up to 10 days after the last pill. It varied as to how long it would take, provera mimics your body after ovulation by surging your progesterone tricking your body into thinking it has ovulated. When you quit taking it, it withdraws the progesterone, and it just depends as to when you'll start your period.

Clomid - I ovulated anywhere from CD 16-CD21 on it.

thanks! does that mean you ovulated 16 -21 days after your period or after you stopped taking clomid? My MD told me to start with the ovulation kit 12 days after period so thats 4 days after the Clomid. Thanks again!

Alot of women O late on Clomid...Cycle day 20 or even 25! So don't be discouraged if it doesn't come.
I have heard with Provera it can take up to 14 days after the last pill. Good luck! Clomid made me NUTS!

I think it depends. You are supposed to ovulate 7 days after your last clomid dose, so if you are taking it days 5-9, then it stands to reason that you will ovulate later than day 14- likely day 16 or 17. To some that's "late". In my world? Super early. I'm on my 3rd dose and something's screwy because I'm on day 25 and still waiting. The previous 2 cycles it was day 16 and 18.

The reason you need to wait until a few days after your last clomid pill is because clomid can give you false positive ovulation tests.

As for provera, it can take up to 2 weeks. That's exactly how long it took me, but I don't think I needed it. Some people it only takes a few days. Hope that helps!

I never O'd on Clomid....all I did was grow cysts. Are you being monitored at all Jen?
I have moved on to Femara. I'm on my second round, but if it doesn't result in pregnancy I will be going on break for the summer and focusing on weight loss.

Thanks, I think I am going to wait two weeks to start so Im positive that I won't ovulate when Im on vacation! I did get pregnant on Clomid before but that was 3 years ago and I can't really remember the specifics. I wasn't that closely monitored and it turned out that when I was given the provera for the 3rd month I never got a period because I was pregnant already. This time is different. Not only am I complicated by PCOS but we found out that my husbands Motility is extremely low. Thats why I have to do the IUI. Has anyone had to do this???
