Default whats the longest that AF has been MIA?!!

Hi all!
New to the thread, not new to 3FC or PCOS for that matter lol! I've been thinking recenlty about my period not showing up for ages. I haven't had it since june. I'm pretty sure I've gone longer then that but that was at my heaviest. I've lost 20lbs, which normally kicks my periods into a normalish routine. I went through 6 months of having it bang on time every month.

It begins to worry me when it doesn't show up after this long.

I had a doc tell me once that as long as I had it twice a year, I was ok. Although once I went 18 months without one.

I just went 6 weeks between, but I know I've gone as long as 10 weeks between cycles. My Dr. said the same thing as nelie's. But they just don't get it. To me, it's not the having it, or not having it, it's the not knowing when you're going to have it.

As a side question, do any of you who have missing cycles feel pms-y longer than friends/sisters w/o PCOS? I swear pms shows up 2-3 weeks prior to when I actually start. If I did go every month, I'd be crazy. I lose weight 1 or 2 weeks a month, and then retain water like a sponge for the other 2 weeks. It's like I need two sets of clothes.

I haven't had a period since June. I spotted some in October but it's been a while. I thought it would finally come once I went on the metformin but it hasn't. I just started a new dosage today (now up to 2000 mg a day) so maybe that'll make it come? I kinda hope so considering it feels like my uterus is as hard as a rock and has like 5 pounds of lining hanging out in there lol Sorry if that was TMI haha but this has really been bugging me lol

YES. I thought I was crazy. I would go about 4 months between periods and I would pms for WEEKS. Breakouts, cramping, bloating... the whole bit.

Hi, I'm new to the thread too! Though not to 3FC

The longest time I went without AF was 9-10 months. Right now, I haven't had AF since August....so that's about 4 months without one and I have only had 2 visits this year.

My prob is it usually stays around too long. It's a lot more regular on the pill, but not perfect.

I've skipped between 18 months and 2 years. Generally it's every 6-9 months when I'm not on birth control and then when it does come it will drag on for two weeks or so.

I'm new to PCOS - diagnosed this year. My gyno said if I go longer than 3 months than I had to call her so she can prescribe something to kick it in.

Will be doing so in January. Since it's been MIA since september. Anyone have ideas on what she will prescribe & what it will do to me?

JRCaton she will probably perscribe you with provera its a pill usually taken for 10 days and you get your period within a week. Its basically a sub. hormone progesterone that naturally kicks in after you ovulate and when the egg doesnt fertalize the levels of prog drops and you get your period. So you take it for 10 days and then the levels drop and thats how you get your period.

What happens if your egg gets fertilized while you are taking it? Is it dangerous?

NO~~~~it is perfectly safe. Or at least it was for me 10 years ago! LOL I was given the progesterone shot and when AF didn't come within a week like it usually did when they did give me the shot I took a preg test and it was positive. And when i took a preg test just a day before the shot it showed negative. I was actually 6 weeks along but up to that point no OTC test would show it. HTH

And the longest I have been without AF has been close to a year at a time.
