I finally got my Foramet approved by my Insurance, it is a form of the metformin, but it works a lot better for me.........;) I've been taking it for years now, but since I changed the insurance over to my name since my husband moved to a different co. its been all funky.........:dizzy:

All I wanna do here lately is sleep................... Its like I can't get enough!!!!

Anyways, glad to hear from ya!

Hey Everybody! I know it has been awhile. I've had so much going on lately. It seems like everyone in my family is deciding to get divorced, with the exception of us. It has been somewhat stressful for everyone. Someone has been sick in my house for the past 3 weeks and still ongoing, with the exception of myself. So, you know, I've been having to play nurse. I have yet another busy week ahead. I'm taking my boys to get their pics made Tuesday with one of those fancy, but expensive, photographers. I would like one really nice picture of them. I can't wait till Halloween, it's always fun for the kiddos, and us too. Been doing terrible on the eating. I've eaten steak twice this week, I NEVER eat red meat. And boy, do I feel even worse after eating it. Well, must run to Target to get a decent outfit for the boys.

hey ladies -

just wanted to check in and say hello. I took a few days off of the exercise and got back into it this weekend. I even lost a pound.

The scale is moving very slowly but that's the best way...and with PCOS often the only way lol!

Sassy:
Funny that you guys are talking periods because my last period went on for 7 days, and usually it's heavy, heavy for a couple days then done by the 4th day or so. It was heavy the whole time this time. Very strange.

xray:
mmm steak. funny that you mention steak because I've been craving it! I'll take it next time yours if you don't want it :) I'm a meat and potatoes girl! The meat isn't so bad...it's the potatoes that will stick to my butt. :)

Keep on trucking ladies. Keep posting!

Girlie

Hey Ladies!!

It's been a while since I posted in here. How is everyone doing on their personal challenges?

Me? Badly!! well, so-so I'd say. I havent gone to the gym or worked out ALL month. It's so wierd, it seems that I cant diet AND exercise at the same time. It's always one or the other. What the heck is up with that?

I've been eating on plan though, sticking to my diet and taking my metformin. Ugh I get sick thinking about it. lol

Girlie, I'm so right there with you about the meat and potatoes! And bread, and pasta! I could eat that every day for the rest of my life and be SOO happy. If only it didnt go STRAIGHT to my belly after eating it. Just thinking about it makes me gain weight I think. Yup, there goes the scale up one more notch. I better quit! Veggies, veggies, veggies...

A bit spastic today, not sure why. Maybe I should put this energy to good use and actually workout tonight.

I weigh in again tomorrow morning so I'll update my profile as to my progress. **Crossing fingers**

Hi everyone!

I'm so sorry for just jumping in, but I was wondering if I could trouble you all for some advice. I was just diagnosed with PCOS and I have SOOO many questions. I've been doing some research on the internet and on this site, and I think I'm getting a handle on it, but there's one thing that still leaves me a little stumped...weight loss. Other than eating right and exercising, is there anything else that is helping you lose the weight? I read through some of your posts and it seems that many of you are successfully losing weight through diet and exercise alone despite having PCOS. My problem is that despite being a diligent calorie counter and working out about 2hrs/day, 5days/week, I've gained 50 pounds due to my PCOS. Clearly diet and exercise are not my answer. I was wondering if there's anything else that is helping you along. My doctor prescribed Metformin, but I'm a little hesitant in taking it because I know have normal blood sugar levels. Will it work even if I don't have insulin resistance?

Thanks so much for your time!!

Hi Onsecondthought!

I just started my weightloss, and I cant speak for everyone else, but I've had a lot of success (so far) with a low carb diet and metformin 1000 mg (starting the exercise ANY day now). I'm also on Yaz birth control and my Dr said that it would also help with the weight (and acne and all of the other yucky PCOS stuff).

I did a lot of research on Insulin Resistance in correlation to PCOS and found that I fit a lot of the symtoms:
Weight gain (duh) in the belly area
Skin Tags
Hypoproductive Thyroid
High Bad cholesterol /Low Good cholesterol
Borderline high blood sugar
Dark velvetey patches
etc.

Also, I never had much luck with counting calories. For me, a low carb diet was the best for my weight loss. You may want to switch it up a bit and try some different approaches to different diets.

Good luck!!!

That's totally cute, Sassy!! Love it!

Did a weigh in today and i've lost 6 lbs this week!! Which I was actually surprised about because yesterday my scale at home said I hadnt lost any weight. I then got sick and, well let's just say I was popping the immodium all night. And then this morning on the scale at work (we're doing a biggest loser challenge) It said I lost 6 lbs! YAY!! That makes 20 so far!! woot!!

Looking forward to the November challenge!

Awesome job on the weight loss so far! I seem to have stalled around a 20 pound weight loss but that's mainly because I'm always on the go, so getting in enough exercise to see better results has been difficult. Between full time classes and working about 30 hours a week, I have a hard time finding motivation to get to the gym!

Keep up the job work though! Hard work and dedication is where it's at!
