Arghhh... Right Back Where I started

Ok well long story short about 5 years ago i was diagnosed with PCOS, placed on Metformin and lost about 50 pounds. 2 years ago my Dr. took me off the Metformin and told me to keep my weight off and I shouuld be fine. Well in the two years since then I have moved out of state and have had to find another GYN that was experienced in PCOS. I had my yearly last year with one that was recommended to me and she was knowledgeable about PCOS and asked why I stopped the Metformin? I told her what my other GYN said and she said "well I guess if it works for you." Now I was not trying to get pregnant or anything just trying to stay healthy and keep the pain to a minimum on a monthly basis and keep fit. Well I have an appointment tomorrow with my new GYN because my hormones are all over the place, I am right back to the weight I was BEFORE the Metformin, my facial hair is not being controlled by the Vaniqua and my moods are horrible!!!! I know that I need to get back on the Metformin and wish I had never stopped taking it because I am not looking forward to the first few weeks of getting used to it again. ON top of that I have been dieting like a mad woman the past month and just keep seeing the scale go up after it has gone down. It is like one big roller coaster ride. I think I am losing and then the next day I gain. I have also been sick with that aweful flu and after 3 weeks am starting to feel up to excercising again.
Ok ladies I am sorry about the venting. I am jsut really frustrated with this whole PCOS thing. I am thankful that I was able to conceive and give birth to two wonderful children (of course now they are teenageers and I have keep reminding myself that they ARE a miracle ;) )
I hope that tomorrow's appointment will help with some of this and I can get back to where I feel comfortable again....
Thanks for letting me vent ;)

Dolphin~
I'm sorry to hear about all your struggles. I hope the doctor's appointment goes well and things can get a little more stable for you. Let us know how it goes!

Diet and exercise!

Met is not the answer. It is only masking the PCOS. Daily exercise (at least 1 hour of real cardio) will correct the male hormones that cause the facial hair and stabilize hormones. Please don't hurt yourself by letting the doctor give you the Met as a 'bandaid'. Cutting out sugars and grains (if whole grains bother you then cut those out, too) and then exercising will do everything Met will do... and with an extra bonus- you'll gain strength from doing it yourself! I would say meet with your new doctor and then go to a nutritionist who specializes in hormones. She'll be able to 'cure' the PCOS condition through lifestyle changes instead of masking it.

Dolphin, I'm sorry that you are having a 'relapse'. I hope things get under control for you soon!
