Can I join you ladies?..I NEED some HOPE!

  • Hello Ladies! I have been ttc for five years. I did have one ectopic pregnancy on a clomid cycle. I have been diagnosed with ovulatory problems, as my FSH and all other bloodwork is great. HSG was normal..dh checked out fine.

I have been working hard to lose the weight, and recently lost 20 more after a plateau. My cycles have been running every 27-31 days since this summer when I dropped the 20 more? I do remember yrs. ago when I got to like 280...that is when my cycles started running like every 47-56 days?? RE said that meant I was NOT ovulating?? So hopefully with my cycles more on track I will get a positive in the next few months??

I am just so depressed this month...I don't want to miss my chance to be a mommy! I really NEED to fine tune my eating and get to exercising MORE!! I am so slack about exercise...and I know with PCOS..I must exercise! RE always says to me..Move..move..move!..LOL!

I am working on making a detailed exercise plan and on Jan. 1st I will eliminate ALL sugar from my diet. My eating is already really clean..but I do allow myself sugar maybe once or twice a week...mainly ice cream or a glass of sweet tea at a Restaurant?? I want to cut it ALL out completely!

I was wondering if anyone has ANY suggestions for me...to get more weight off..Or maybe if someone did something different to finally get pregnant??

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
  • I've been trying to vut out flour and sugar too. When I stick to it it works really well. I use a book and program called taking charge of your fertility. It's really helpful if you are ovulating. It's really interesting if nothing else.
  • Skinny4baby,

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! I'm really hoping to jump right in and lose some major weight too!

I struggled with infertility for 5 and a half years before getting my sweet Ry-Ry via In Vitro Fertilization.

I don't ovulate either and I'm hoping to start getting healthier so that I do start O'ing and can get pregnant on my own.

Sounds like we're in a very similar situation - I'm going to start a detailed weight loss plan as well. And hoping to TTC for another lil one.

    Best wishes to you!!
  • Hey, ya know, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 and since then I've pretty much been conditioned to eat whole grains, proteins, and to stay AWAY from sugars and heavy starches. It turns out, a research center in Baton Rouge, LA called Pennington Center who found that women who have PCOS who stick to those foods listed are more likely to conceive! I got pregnant while taking Yasmin- go figure! The doctors are calling it a miracle, so am I... but I can't help but think the combination of foods, leveling of my hormones by birth control, and staying active MUST have had something to do with it also. Good luck darlin!!!!!
  • Thank you all for your much needed support!

Angemama...you little buggy is sooo cute in the santa suit!! I was wondering do you mind sharing what a typical day of eating is like for you..I would love to compare it to what I eat?? What kind/brand of whole grains do you typically eat. Are there specifics that you steer clear of like bananas and carrots for example? Yeah...you are definitely some HOPE and some proof that dr's certainly don't know everything.
  • Thank you! I love my little Doodlebug!!! I don't mind sharing at all!!!! I'm starting back on my LA weightloss until tomorrow, but typically for breakfast I'll have eggs and whole wheat/multigrain bread. (I try to only eat bread that's made fresh from a bakery so that I will have TRUE wheat bread and not just the preservative trash that's out there sometimes lol) For lunch it really just depends. I work in a doc's office and we get a lot of pharma. reps who come in and bring food. Honestly, last year i did La Weightloss and lost over 30 lbs and I've just stayed active...that's when I got pregnant! lol I eat a lot of green veggies like spinach (cooked with olive oil and garlic! yum!), hearts of romaine lettuce for salads (i usually eat it with vinegar, olive oil, 1 garlic clove, and parmesean cheese! love it!) These are just things I eat pretty regularly... I mean, you don't have to eat exactly that. I'll tell you, I stay AWAY from french fries, white bread, canned veggies, and pizza (when i can). I try to eat fresh or frozen foods because they add so much salt and sugar to the canned ones..... hope that helps!!!!
  • I know what you are going through with the pregnancy yo-yo. After many years of trying and infertility, my husband and I adopted a baby from India. That baby just turned 13 last month. We adopted another baby girl five years after the first one. She is going to be 8 in February. I cannot believe it. There is still a part of me that wants to give birth to a baby. With my PCOS as bad as it is, there is no way that is going to happen. Next week, I turn 37 and now I think I am too old for a baby. My husband is 47. We are dealing with a teenager now and I know our decision to only have the two girls is the right one. I have been where you are now. Hang in there! Remember adoption is always an option. I will never regret the choices we have made to have our two beautiful, intelligent girls. I would not do it any different if I had to do it over again.
  • Your stories all hit so close to home for me.

5 years ago when my husband and I got married we spent so much time worrying about getting pregnant it never crossed our minds that we'd have problems.

Once we decided to stop trying not to have kids we discovered that something was quite obviously wrong.

    He was tested.

    I was tested.

That's when the PCOS was discovered.

I lost 50lbs on Met and through diet before I backslid and gained 1/2 the weight back.

This year I'm going to refocus on myself, taking my drugs, eating right, working out.

Tomorrow my husband and I are both going to the gym together. I love that he's going to work out with/ and support me

My husband goes on shore duty at the end of this year, and I need to be ready when we finally are together long to TTC!
