I do weight watchers at home. I lost 80 lbs with it about 9 years ago...it's the only thing I found that works for me because I can have any type of food that I want to. It's kind of like calorie counting simplified. There are plans out there that I can't understand how someone could stick with it...there's as many plans as there are people out there, it seems.
Along with my PCOS, I'm a carb addict (not a happy combination), so I've turned to South Beach Diet. Phase I (2 weeks) is cutting carbs and sugar as much as possible and allowing your body to detox. Then you go to Phase II and slowly re-build the way you eat; brown instead of white, whole grains, etc. I'm almost done with Phase I and I've lost 8 pounds since starting it. It'll slow when I enter Phase II, but I'm thrilled to have found something that works for me.
Hey! I too am a carb addict and currently doing the South Beach Diet. I started Phase 1 at the beginning of the week and have already lost 5 pounds. This lifestyle change seems to really work. I have had family members who have used it for the past couple years.
I don't do any diet. I'm just eating healthier - cut out most fast food, sugar and reduced carbs (bread is a MAJOR weakness). I am doing the treadmill 45 - 60 minutes a day. I have treats - do a HUGE brunch out every 3 weeks or so - fried food once in a GREAT while - still being naughty and having a bagel at DD a few mornings a week - trying to stop that.
I'm on Jenny Craig..so far soo good. I'm taking Meridia for my insulin resistance and I'm losing weight. But I'm not really cheating either. I tell myself if I'm going to invest all this money in weight loss, I can't screw it all up with eating out or cheating.
I'm loosely following the ediets Low Glycemic Diet. It's given me lots of good recipe ideas. It's very similar to South Beach, but it seems easier to me. It emphasizes all the same things, but with lots of options and different combinations than I'd seen before.
My endo told me low carb like atkins or sugar busters. He did ok South Beach but I haven't been able to be disciplined enough to stick to any of those.
I have been on (and off) atkins, sb, just lowcarbing with organic foods, etc for years. After being on met xr for 9 months, weight stayed the same (I would lose a few pounds, then they would be right back, so just water) until about a month ago when my weight went up again. NO WAY. My doc said that is the depression, so I started wellbutrin. After doing 6wbmo for a week I have lost 6 pounds. It is HARD and so limiting, but if I can lose some of this debilitating fat I will do just about anything.
I am doing LA weight loss...I did fine for first few months but then plateaud for past few months. Doctor just put me on metformin, so hoping that helps a little...
