Getting checked for PCOS

Hi!

I've suspected that I have PCOS for years, but I was always too afraid to do anything about it. I knew I'd have to go to a gynecologist, and that's always freaked me out. I don't like people all up in my grill, ya know? But, I'm 19 now and I finally made myself tell my mom about my suspicions because my symptoms seem to be getting worse. Less and less regular periods, more hair growth, etc. It's had me worried because I want to be able to have kids and stuff someday, and I've been afraid that if I don't do something about it now it could get worse and I might not be able to get pregnant at all later on or worse things could happen.
So now I'm scared about having to go to the doctor!!! And I'm scared that I'll have cancer or something, since I read that it can turn into cancer. I'm scared that I'll have all kinds of problems.
Getting health problems and diseases and stuff has ALWAYS scared me to death. :( I worry like crazy about this stuff.

But anyway, I just wanted to share it with someone who might understand. I can't wait to get it over with and find out what's going on.
I'm sure I'll definitely be posting the results here when I find out! I'm making the doctor appointment tomorrow, so I'm not sure when I'll get to go, but I hope it's soon so I can get it over with!

Good luck! The anticipation of the appointment is always worse then the actual appointment. Good for you for taking control and doing something. The sooner you can get your symptoms under control the better off you will be.

Well I will give you kinda what was wrong with me. I went to the doctor because I did not have a period for three months, then they ran lots of tests to see what was wrong. They ran everything from a pregnancy test to my testosterone. The testosterone test was the determining factor, that is what told me I had PCOS. Now I have been on BCP for about 5 years, and they just recenlty diagnosed me with IR so now I am taking Metformin. Everything should be fine and you should have nothing to be scared of. Dont stress yourself out about all that!! I know that is hard to say, but coming from experience I was the same way when I first was diagnosed and I felt like crap. But my FH helped to me to cope and the lovely doctor I am seeing now has really helped me through it. Just know that we are here for you if you have any problems or concerns!! :)
