Default What Meds Are You Taking For Your PCOS?

Just curious as to what everyone was taking.

How long have you been taking it?

What dosage did you start on?

Thanks girls!

I just take BC pills and really I struggled and couldn't lose any weight before I did start taking them so they are my lifesaver. I forget the exact name of my current one (I've been on probably 5 different ones) but I think it is Loestrin.

I'm not taking anything right now, since I'm BFing DD. When we were ttc, I took Metformin (or glucaphage) and clomid. Metformin I was on anywhere from 1000 mg/day - 1500 mg/day (we upped the dosage at one point).

I gained 40 pounds in 9 months on BC pills and they made me totally loopy. I will never go on them again.

What BC pill did you take? I took Levlen and it made me gain weight. Other pills have been more positive.

I currently take Met XR 500mg. I was on Yasmin but it wasn't really helping with the PCOS symptoms, so now I'm on OTC-Lo along with the Met.

I was on Ortho-Tri at first, and it made me feel like I was going nuts. Then I went on something that started with an A....it's been a few years and I can't remember anymore. But, I'm fine w/no hormonal BC, it makes me feel off. Plus, I can chart and really see how my cycles are.

We are TTC, so my doctor just upped my dosage of Metformin to 2000mg a day. My body is still getting used to it.

I'm the same as Jenny, perfectly fine with no hormonal assistance. I also am a fanatic about charting and keeping track of my moods and cycles.

Personally, it's when I limit my starches and sugars that I feel the best, the problem is once I go back and I'm a monster and start the cycle all over again.

I take Byetta and LOVE it. It works great for pcos with high insulin and has a side effect of weight loss. Very cool. FDA is acutally considering letting it be listed for a weight loss drug as well as for prediabetes.

Yes byetta, it is for diabetes but also for a number of other things. Like i said, its basically used in the same manner as Metformin, can be used interchangably actually. My OB offered me met for the pcos and my regular doc offered byetta. Byetta has more of a record with weight loss as a side effect so i went with that one. ;-)
