I was diagnosed with this too

I went to the doctor earlier this year, looking for answers to questions other doctors had no answers for. Why had I gained weight so rapidly, why have I not had a period and why can't I have a child... plus my doctor from my homestate called me and said my pap was abnormal and he mentioned the word cancer :?: So i went in, and after some discussion and blood work I was told that my pap was normal, no cancer (Thank GOD!) but the reason for the lack of my eriod was my hormones were out of whack and had PCOS with annovulation. Weight loss is difficult, and getting pregnant even more so...but there is hope...they put me on metphormin and provera and my period returned, then it went away and did not return until i joined curves earlier this month. Provera caused me to become superbi***y and very depressed (I'm talking thoughts of suicide and murder) so they took me off that and I have my "moments of insanity" as my husband calls them.

The research I have done has made living and dealing with this condition easier to do...and one of the things Ithat treally stuck out form this research was weight loss actually helps battle the effects of PCOS and even 10 pounds can be allt he difference between concieving or not.

I am so glad you are doing some research on this, I was dx, with this about 13 years ago and the only thing they could offer at the time was BC pills. Now they are better treatment options and One I Love is spirinolactone, it is a diuretic that helps a bit. given for blood pressure though also helps with the hursitism that some women with PCOS have.
HOpe your having a better day, yes those insanity days are fun aren't they :)

I will mention that medicine to my dr and see what he thinks, so far the metformin hasn't given me any results, that I can see anyways. I do have that hursitism (thats the unusual hairgrowth right?) and anything that helps witht hat is a plus in my book. We've also been discussing BC pills, but I don't understand the use of BC as a treatment for PCOS if the woman is trying to conceive. But then again, I used to take them when I was a teenager and when I quit taking them thats when my period went on hiatus...a 10 year hiatus!

And yes those insanity days are just a blast, its like being on a rollercoaster, and my moods swing far a wide. Mostly though I am overly sensitive and prone to hopeless crying bouts which causes my husband to feel uncomfortable and frustrate ebcause he knows there is nothing he can really do. If I am not crying then I am yelling at him for the tiniest thing. I can't even stand myself when I have those days, I am so blessed to have a man who is strong enough and smart enough to handle them and not to take it personally!!

Thanky ou guys for the warm welcome!!

yes you are blessed. My BF knows that at least 3 days a month he will be playing games on the computer and he just leaves me alone. Such a smart man :) Yes hursitism is that male pattern hair thing. It took awhile for it to help but it definitely slowed it down. Here is hoping you have a better day today (hugs)
