More cat tails

Welcome everyone!

I have 3 cats that live outside since I also have 3 little dogs that were inside first. Our cats are supposed to be wild barn cats but we had to start feeding on the front porch due to predators down by the barn. Anyway - 2 of the cats the mom and the biggest fluffer like to come in occasionally for a visit - momma (Shaker) would stay in all the time if we let her - but Shiner (big and fluffy) likes to just hang by the door and bother the dogs.

This morning - we let him in and he was eyeballing one of the little wagging tails when he tried to take a bite out of it - OMG it was so funny - little Dot yipped and wirled around like she was gonna eat this cat - this cat that outweighs her - it was funny.

I used to have a house cat when I live with my folks - she is actually what got me into all the pagan things - because I wasnt a cat person and one morning I wake to the sound of meows outside my window (upstairs bedroom) I looked down at the driveway and here was a little black kitten on top of the garbage can looking up at my window and meowing - how did this cat know I was there? Anyway she had been dropped off and followed our dogs home - when I went outside - she comes running around the corner and climbs my leg and sits on my shoulder - she was my cat from then on and I named her Jezebel. She has moved on, but I always remember how she chose me.

Shiner did the same thing - when he and his siblings were 6 wks old - I took them from the barn to a spare room to tame them and in under an hour he was climbing all over me and loves to be held - he was the hardest to catch at the time and is the most loveable since. Ironically he was not the kitten I was going to keep but then he changed my mind. Coincidence? Shiner takes it upon himself to escort me around the property when I go out to feed and periodically he likes to ride on my shoulder while I walk around.

One of my cats came from a family that had alot of cats and as a kitten he had to fight for his food. He never got over it and is a compulsive overeater. When my son was living at home he did not believe me about restricting his food and got one of the feeders...that cat ate constantly after 48 hours of his barely being able to waddle cause he was so stuffed my son gave in and we went back to regular feeding. By the way when I was training for 1st degree one of the classes covered trying mental connecting with others..what I got from my catr was a image of kitty treats!

djade - that part about the mental connection = kitty treats -

Speaking of kitties.....

We have 8 little kitties in the house - they aren't really little anymore but they are my babies. They are the result of my hubby's attempt to 'fix' the wild cat population that we have outside. He went around finding out where the barn cats hid their kittens and then he stole them :( - the reasoning behind this was that 1) we could tame the kittens; 2) get the kittens spayed and neutered and potty trained; 3) and then give the kittens away -- HA - no way could anyone make us part with our 'furry kids' now *LMAO*. I'm hoping, however, that this year we will find an alternative plan - if we don't I'll have even more cats in the house. Just today I had to make an appointment to get the little boy kitties fixed because they have all been trying their hardest to mate with our slightly older female cats - it is quite amusing to see them all sitting around with a slightly confused look on their faces because of the amorous attention the females keep giving them. We've decided that they have to be separated until their appointment - and that confuses them even more because they are all so close. The scratching on the bathroom door with plaintive little mews from both sides is a little sad - but my children have started saying things like "MOMMY - Harry is trying to mate with Hermoinne again!" :o

Our cats also have a really bad habit of running through the house chasing one another and knocking over ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in sight. My DH used to blame our girls until he finally saw what damage the cats could do during the night. They even turn off the computer and unplug the televisions and when we set up the Yule tree this year the decorations only last one night - they didn't stand a chance against the kittens - we came in the next morning with decorations strewn all over the place and every branch on the tree was bent straight down AND 2 of the kittens were actually asleep IN the tree!!!:dizzy: We love our 'furry kids' but they are real pains in the bum alot of the time.

Just a note...

Hello - I just wanted to say that I have been reading through your forum, and really enjoyed myself. I am firmly Christian, and have never even met a pagan. (That I know of, I probably have ;-) I didn't realize I had preconceived thoughts about paganism (not negative, but still...) until I read through this forum. Just a note to say how much I enjoyed learning a little more and seeing what neat people you all are. I now have more informed and more positive thoughts about paganism in general, and I like that. :) Sorry to interrupt, please ignore me...

Hi ctsara - Your are not interrupting, in fact it was nice of you to drop in and share your thoughts with us. :)

Happy New Year, all!

Just wanted to say hi again, as I lurk here from time to time.

Reading these posts about rude kitties just makes me laugh. I don't have cats. I have an 8 month old beagle puppy who doesn't believe that I should be out of his sight for more than 10 seconds. He too knocks on the door with his body if it's closed. He also like to use his VERY loud beagle bark to let me know he's not pleased about a door being closed. I can't even take a shower without this little guy nosing at the curtain to see what I'm doing. I guess it's good to be that loved...or stalked...lol.

Wow!

I cannot believe that there is a pagan forum here! I am SO beyond excited!

I have been a member for a while, but I haven't been here. I referred someone to the site and thought hmm, I should go poke around out there, and here you are! Fabulous!

I just wanted to introduce myself to you. May I come dance under the moon with you? My name is Aileen and I am from beautiful Concord, NC.

Bright blessings to you on this beautiful, but rainy day!

mauvaisroux 02-25-2006 10:40 PM

Welcome Aileen :) this part of the forum is relatively new and we have attracted a lovely group of people.

Looking forward to getting to know you. :D
