Hello! :)
I just introduced myself on the "introductions" page, but thought I'd take time to post on here too.
What a GREAT thing to have a group of pagan ladies who want to lose weight and get healthy. How rare!!!
I've got to find one of those weight counters for the bottom of my pages... those are so cool!

Merry Meet!
I'm new here too. Lots of good info on these boards. I'll probably be hanging out at the South Beach board mostly. I'll check in here sometimes too.
Bright Blessings,

Hi Mackenzie & SavarnaRose...
I'm new to this place too. Good to see like-minded people! It doesn't seem so busy here as other threads, but wanted to say hello.
Happy Litha!

What is a genuinely healthy way to eat?
Ok, so I'm getting mad at all these "fad" diets and all the contradictory information regarding carbs/protein and even artificial sweeteners. I want to be at a healthy weight, but I don't want to put a whole bunch of crazy chemicals into my body that may or may not be harmful. My main issue is craving sweet things, even while on the South Beach diet I craved sweet things! I'm considering going back on Weight Watchers again, but the last time I was on it it emphasized low-fat high carbohydrates and I know high protein low carb works for me, but I want to eat fruit! I'm all confused about what to do!! Any suggestions???
Could use a

I think you're on the right track with trying to avoid 'fad' diets, but as for emphasizing carbs or protein etc, you need to find what works well for you. We are all different and what works for you probably won't for me... you also need to think of this as a lifestyle change, not just a temporary measure to lose weight, so your diet needs to be something you can stick with and cope with long term, while still feeding your body all the nutrients that it needs. More than anything I think it's a bit of trial and error, and common sense too

Thanks for the advice!
I think I was just bummed because the "South beach diet" did work for me, but it's not practical as the rest of my family won't eat that way and it's too expensive to buy MY food and THEIR food. I am making progress though, I am figuring out what is working and what is not, so I can make lifelong changes.
Thanks for your help

Hi Innerchild,
WW was focusing on good carbs last time I was there (last year) so maybe their plan has changed a bit since you were on it. When I was on WW I always had regular food as I can't stand the taste of most "diet" products.
You may want to look into a plan that is based on whole foods (i.e. natural foods, eating as few processed foods as possible). I am doing that right now and making my own plan instead of following a commercial diet plan. It seems to be more geared towards eating for optimum health and getting regular exercise.
If you are interested here is a forum dedicated to Whole foods and Superfoods if you would like some more info:

Thanks for the info. That is what I'm looking for, and after you mentioned "Superfoods" it rang a bell in my head. My mom does it too I think.
Thanks!
