Just starting Nutrisystem
I am eagerly awaiting my first shipment of Nutrisystem (should be here tomorrow). I am curious as to the results that others had with this...especially in the beginning. Should I expect to lost a lot in the first few weeks and then slowly taper down to 1 to 2 lbs a week? or will I start out slow and just remain slow. Any helpful tips to this diet would also be appreciated!

I am in my 8th week. I lost 22 pounds in 7 weeks, or about 3 pounds a week.
You should check out a thread called
"nutrisystem-buddies-2009"
Lots of great info in there.
Welcome, and best of luck!

It seems as though I have tried everything....all the weight that I had previously lost I gained back (and then some). I hate starting over again. I figured that for me, NS would be the best bet right now. No thinking required. THAT is what I need.

My mom & dad both do Nutrisystem when they have a little extra weight to lose. My dad used it to successfully lose 50 pounds. (My mom says it gives her gas so she just does it when she "feels fat.")
He is now maintaining, very successfully. I think he still eats Nutrisystem lunches, but regular food the rest of the time. (By "regular food" I mean LOTS of veggies, wheat bread, etc etc...healthy stuff.)
I sometimes take Nutrisystem lunches and/or dinners to work for lunch. I like them because they are super high in protein. We actually need to order some more, we're running really low.
A friend of mine is using the new Nutrisystem-D, which is supposed to be for diabetics, and is having success with it.
It's a good plan - stick to it.

I was on Nutrisystem for 4 months. I lost about 20 pounds the first 30 days, so it definitely works. But for me, weight loss slowed down alot after the first month. And the foods were just so bland, not to mention expensive. I did enjoy the convenience of it though. My favorites were the small pasta containers and the soups. The powdered eggs were horrendous lol. The worst were the muffins to me, they tasted like cardboard.

I just checked tracking and my order is scheduled to come tomorrow. It looked like only one breakfast option had eggs. Are there more that aren't pictured?

Ok I have been on Nutrisystem now for 5 days and have so far found the food to be decent. I really dislike the dried food in a cup like the macaroni and cheese and the mashed potatos. Although to be fair I have never been a fan of dried food in a cup diet or otherwise. I usually find the consistancy to be off and the noodles, beans, whatever to always stay a little on the hard side. I initially selected the option where they send you a selection of favorites but have since changed the option and selected my own food for the next shipment. I seemed to get an awful lot of the aforementioned cup food and meal replacement bars and I am not sure if these really are customer favorites or if as I suspect they are just a lot less expensive to ship. Anyway I can't say whether I have lost any weight yet because I only bought a scale yesterday and weighed in for the first time then, but I do feel a lot better which is something.

My husband has been on the plan since January 13 and he has lost 58.4 pounds. He drinks 8 glasses of water religiously every day and also walks on the treadmill EVERY day. He started at 30 minutes and is currently walking for about an hour. He had about 100 pounds to lose so he got the extra 2 starch and 1 fruit servings. He didn't want to give up that food so he's walking more.
He started out the first month with a package from QVC and quickly decided that he needed to select his own food. It takes trial and error. He likes some of the cup food. With the pasta you will see that it needs to sit for about 15 minutes in the water to really rehydrate. Then he just warms it a bit in the microwave. His favorites are the lasagna, spaghetti and meat sauce, chicken almonds and rice, mushroom rissoto, cheesy mashed potatoes, ravioli, meatloaf, black bean soup, the hamburger patty, the fritatta cooked in a pan...not microwave. He likes the sweet bar desserts and cookies very much but does not eat any of the savory snacks. These are awful to him. Hope that helps.
Good Luck!

It does, at least it will help me get through the rehydrated foods I currently have and maybe I will actually learn to like some of them. I tried the hamburger patty on a night when I made burgers for dinner. I was surprised it was quite good. I like how you (Vickie) are managing your weight loss, it makes it seem so much less daunting.

Ok I have been on Nutrisystem now for 2 weeks and have lost 7lbs. I am happy with the results but am not so much with the food. I don't mind the most of dinners and the canned food. I have tried leaving the dehydrated foods sit for 15 minutes as Vickie suggested and it has made a big difference. So far though my least favorites are the pasta with broccoli, the scones, and the lemon blueberry bar. The desserts for the most part have been ok and really take the edge off of a sweet craving but that lemon blueberry bar is one of the worst things I have ever eaten.

I'm glad it helped and HUGE congratulations on your loss. That should help ease the sting of some of the less than gourmet food! I can't remember the name of the bar, but my DH's favorite is the one that sounds like a snickers bar. If you can't figure out which one that is, let me know and I'll ask him.
He hates the rotini and meatballs. This week, I sauteed some fresh mushrooms for him with a drop of EVOO and some garlic powder. He said it made all the difference in the world. So...my point is to try to add different spices and free items to get this stuff to a point where it is more palatable to you. Of course, the problem is that you have to taste it plain first before you can figure out how or what to doctor it with.
I couldn't stick to the program for more than 4 days so my DH and anyone else who does it is amazing to me.

I have been thinking of doing nutrisystem too. I tried to food when my mother in law had a few left over from her weight loss program. Although, I wasn't really thrilled with the taste. I tried a ravoli dinner.
Also, did nutrisystem take away the a la carte option? It seems to be just month to month now.
