ready for portion control

Up to now I've been committed to eating only 3 meals a day--whatever they may be. But, I've noticed that I'm increasingly eating more and more at each of those 3 meals. I feel like I've put on some weight and I'm not feeling in control of what I eat at each meal. So, I'm ready to up my commitment. Today I committed to 3 zone portions at each of my 3 meals. I will continue to abstain from my trigger foods. I think I've got a winning combination-- as long as I keep God on board and stick with the rest of my OA plan.

It's so bizarre, Marny... I don't get a "yellow light" showing when there's a new post in this forum. :?: And I'm supposed to be the moderator!

Have you considered taking a portion of your calories for the day and saving them for snacks? I have three snacks a day (mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and evening), each one between 100 and 200 calories. It keeps my body fueled throughout the day, and I'm less inclined to binge or eat huge quantities at my regular meals.

Keep going, hon... you're doing great!

BTW, I'm sorry it's not very busy in here. :( Sometimes it's hopping, and other times...

Ellis,
Thanks for the feedback. I was successful with the zone a few years back, while doing 3 meals plus 2 snacks. I understand why the snacks are beneficial. I'm currently avoiding them because planning to eat 5 times a day feels like it would be continuing my obsession with food and eating. I'm enjoying that I only need to think about food three times during the day. It's freeing--and satisfying. So far I'm not hungry between meals, but if that becomes an issue, I'll rethink the snack as a planned time to eat. I'm loving the structure that my OA food plan gives me. I think about food when it's time to eat, and I don't think about it the rest of the day. If I start to, I say my prayer, " God I give you my hunger and food. Please give me the will and ability to stick to my plan." So far, it has worked without fail.

It's great to have a place to write how I'm feeling and doing.

Marny

I hear you, Marny. Sometimes "grazing" can get right out of hand.
I admire your strength... it really shines through in your posts.
