Hi,
I thought I'd jump in on this discussion.
I also lost the weight I gained from binging by dieting. I did as sort of calorie counting thing that didn't really say no to any particular food, I just had to learn to eat within a calorie range that would allow me to lose weight without getting too hungry.
I saw my binge eating disorder and the need to lose weight as two seperate issues and approached them seperately. The binge eating disorder was an addictive compulsion that had to be dealt with seperately from my "diet". I realized the compulsion to eat had nothing to do with food when it finally hit me that my binges had nothing to do with feeling hungry or deprived and that I never enjoyed the food itself. It was the ritual of the binge that acted as a circuit breaker for stress, not the food itself.
I am still a compuslive person and always will be.. now I channel that compulsion into healthier things.. like exercise, music and writing.
