Tell me about OA

Hi, my counselor recommended OA. I have all sorts of eating issues. I was anorexic in high school. Then became bulemic. Then I overate all the time and became a big time yoyo dieter.
I binge all the time until I gain about 30 pounds then I go on starvation diets and compulsively exercise to get it off.
I am 26 and my life has always revolved around food. I am wanting to change.
I am wanting to know if OA is just another "diet"? I heard you should choose a diet while attending OA. Problem is, I dont even know whats healthy anymore and diets trigger me to fast then I binge and the cycle starts all over again.
What food plan is recommended? I am just SO burned out on diets, so if this is really stressed in the meetings then OA isnt for me.

Hi Skipper...

Having never been to OA, I can't say for sure, but I know they are NOT about any "diet" in particular. You will have to come up with something that works for you, preferably in a healthy manner. Instead of looking at it as a diet, which is something that you go on and then off, presumably when you are done, why not find an eating plan that you can follow for the rest of your life? Weight Watchers is a good example, but certainly not the only one.

Try checking out the website, www.overeatersanonymous.com for more info about that.

Good luck to you!
